Ok gist is:
Accused of "putting the company at risk of prosecution from the enforecement authorities and of loosing company revenue by not completing an emergency job quick enough" basically, by not following a management document...
Firstly, I got off, mainly because I successfully shifted blame form me to the department that blames me in the first place by utilising meeting minutes that lead up to the management document being drawn up. These actions, that I was being accused of not doing were actually actions given to staff of the department that brought the accusations in the first place.
Nice! It was the most fun I've had in ages actually.
But as I stated in my investigation meeting, I would be most upset if the company thought it so serious as to put me through this investigation, if I was to get off, the case would be dropped. I suspected it would be.
Well guess what, the case has been dropped and nobody will face the sack or whatever. Apparently due to the management doc not being clear - but clearly clear enough to try to hang me with, eh chaps....
The "other department" has a blame culture ripping right through it and there has been a disproportionate amount of staff leave or be sacked in the last three years or so. They are under very tight targets and so look to blame anyone for anything they can, it seems.
anyway, I am glad I am in the clear but suspect it will just happen all over again. Also, I'm even more annoyed now I know nobody is to face a diciplinary.
My boss told me (he was diciplining manager and so must remain impartial until the investigation was over) that they wanted a colleague out and not me but I hadto be included as I was this colleagues line manager. He also said not to bother seeing how well my butt was covered as the case against us was watertight - impartial my arse then.
I don't think anyone ever 'wins' by starting a grievance procedure, you just get marked as 'awkward' and will be the first to get made redundant when they lay people off.
Unless it's a great job, I would suggest finding a 'nicer' place to work...
No grievance that I can see and what would be the point in stirring more trouble?
YOu are in the clear, procedures are found at fault and therefore should be modified. What do you gain from stirring up more trouble?
