Taking Mrs BB for birthday break in Brugge. Anyone care to recommend a nice hotel? Doesn't have to be central, a short bus/tram ride in would be ok. Secure parking would be a bonus.

+1 for Martins hotel. We stayed in the one about a two minute walk from the clock tower. Very nice.

We've stayed here a few times before;

It's a little way out of Brugge but on a direct bus route and it's a B&B but it's a proper castle!

Heres a linky: http://www.martinshotels.com/en/hotel/martins-brugge/the-hotel

We parked 500m's away in a reasonable underground carpark. They might know the details of this.

Fantastic place. I thought I'd hate it, only meant it as a stop off on the way to Germany. We ended up staying 3 nights. Sooooooooooooooooooooo relaxing. Avoid the square bars- lots of lovely stuff off in the small streets, lots of relaxed just wandering to be had too.

If possible, I'd recommend visiting Tyn Cott nearby. I'm man enough to admit to crying there.

De Barge Boat Hotel is a great place to stay, just a short walk to the town centre.

BUT it isn't secure parking.

We stayed here http://www.janbrito.com/ the parking is down the street in an underground jobbie. Might not be secure enough.

However, it was fantastic, charming, and the breakfast was cracking. We even had a moment of poshness by taking tea in the garden. Damn the expense!
