We're hopefully off to the Graubunden area next weekend. Would anyone mind me picking their brains please?

I might be able to help a bit. What would you like to ask?

The Rothorn in Lenzerheide has some good ( downhill) routes - but plenty of trails around

I know Davos & Klosters well - bit further up the valley from Lenzer & Arosa.

What would you like to know?

We were hoping for some 'out-there' type riding, including Dark side of the moon, but it seems there are only limited lifts open when we go so we won't be able to get to the top of the mountain. The only lifts I can see that will be running for the whole week are Rothorn 1 and Brambruesch - which service the two bike parks - and a few chairlifts and cable cars which all say 'This lift does not transport Downhill bikes'. Does that mean ACTUAL Downhill bikes, or all mountain bikes??

Will we be 'stuck' doing the bike parks only or is there another way to get around to the other trails (apart from riding literally to the top of a mountain 😩)?

We're based in Lenzerheide; I've read in a (20 year old) Rough Guide book that there are good transport links around the region - are there buses/trains that you can take your bikes on, travel to other towns/lifts then bike back over to Lenzerheide?

TIA for your help!

and https://www.bikekingdom.ch/en/Mountain-Railways/Operating-hours

Would suggest that you can knock yourself out on most of the tours that taken in Chur etc, using lifts away from the park. e.g. ticket to ride rot 616

Sorry to not be more specific.

A quick look at Davos suggests the Jackobshorn is under repair, which is a bugger, and Parsenn train not open till later in the season. Rhinerhorn should be running though which opens up some options.

Switzerland had excellent public transportation options with a bike.

Any train will take a bike.

Many of the postbus services will take a bike. They have a good website for more info.
