Got a new laptop a short while ago which doesn't seem to like Chrome (or my settings more likely)
For instance I often have trouble getting straight onto this forum as I'm usually put onto the STW home page & still can't get the forum.
Very often If I'm going from a link I'll get 'website not available' but on a refresh, it is. My clever clogs stepson has uninstalled Chrome & re-installed it which helped for a while but It's starting again!
The wife's computer doesn't do it on Chrome & it doesn't happen on Interweb Explorer.
*waits for the inevitable 'use the wife's computer or Internet Explorer' quips* 😉
getting straight onto this forum
can you be more specific in what you mean? Do you click a link or a bookmark? What is the address you are using in the link or bookmark?
still can't get the forum.
what happens when you click the "Forums" link in the top of the STW banner?
Do you "log in" to your chrome or just use it with out any log in?
...also, are we on Windows or Apple hardware?
I had a similar problem. I installed Chrome onto a new laptop, then my connection kept dropping out. Once I uninstalled Chrome the problem disappeared. Something to do with one of the network drivers - once this was updated the issue went away and I'm now happily using Chrome again.
If I use my bookmark It's a problem but if I actually type WWW.singletrackworld.com then go from there it's not a problem.
If I click the 'forums' link after using the bookmark it's a problem.
I don't seem to have to log in to Chrome, it's just there (?)
Sorry, but I'm hopeless ay this stuff, as you can tell. 🙄
Check your bookmark address and clear your stw cookies. On phone at the moment so can't take you through it right now.
If you come here often enough, then STW forum should show up as one of the eight or so most frequently used pages when you open chrome, surely?
Try clearing the browser cache (Ctrl-Shift-Delete)
It's not set to go via a proxy is it? On the bottom left of the Chrome window do you see "waiting for proxy" messages?
