I'm looking for a short getaway for some touristing and off road riding in the NW corner of France - thinking somewhere between Le Havre and Nantes.
Does anyone have any recommendations please?
We had a liitle stay in the Suisse Normande a few years back and it was lovely. Nothing pulse racing but lots of waymarked paths and trails that the French do so well.
I rode across Brittany about 30 years ago. I was nice. Quiet roads, nice campsites, etc, but the scenery, while pleasant, was a little samey. Up, down, fields, up, more fields, down, more fields.
And I took a cross bike to the Somme area about 10 years ago, St Valery sur Somme. There was a little more variety - I rode out to the battlefield at Crecy, around the coast (finding the bleakest seaside resort I've ever been to), generally pottering around.Â

Can't comment on off road, but stick to the smaller roads and it's fabulous for road riding, smooth tarmac, quiet roads, mostly patient drivers. The "velo vert" routes can be a little more gravel orientated but can also get a bit boring after a while. Went and caught a few of the tdf stages earlier this month 👍
Think theres some MTB trails in the woods around here
Last time we were in the area I was told theres proper built, waymarked stuff but I've just had a quick google and couldn't find much.
EDIT - I'll just add that its a stunning area around Guerledan... High on my list of places to revisit. If you head to the area and want somewhere to stay, I'd recommend Gites de Lenvos.Â
