Down or otherwise
You're a bit late, most shops were selling off winter stock a month ago when they swapped over to summer ranges. Sportspursuit had Arcteryx down at half price a few weeks back (just checked, all gone).
It might be worth looking at TKMaxx, but as footflaps sez, most of the sales from major manufacturers have been and gone, their clearance sales usually pop up around the beginning of March. There are decent down jackets around that are cheaper than the better known makes, like the Norrøna Falketind, which uses recycled nylon for the shell, and a mix of synthetic and down for the insulation, and £219 ain’t bad.

Sport Pursuit have the Howies Bryant jacket for £50.. I've practically lived in mine for the past few months!
The Uniqlo jackets are good, but Decathlon are arguably better for the money, like this one:

Or this one:

The decathlon ones that are about 30 quid are ace.
The £30 Decathlon jackets are good, but they do leak down a fair bit! Whenever I wear mine my fleece midlayer is covered in tiny bits of down. They do have more fill than the Uniqlo jackets, though, and I think the £54 Quechua jacket might be the better deal overall.
Sport Pursuit --> search for down jackets --> peruse wide range of down jackets --> buy one that fits your requirements/size...
It comes down to what you want / how much you want to spend / whether you care about sustainability and ethical down sourcing etc.
If you like Norrona, there are some on the outlet site-

£131.40 rather than £219. Postage included and arrives within a few days.
Sadly, I’ve not got the finances for one of those Norrøna Falketind jackets, but I’ll keep tabs on them for this time next year.
PHD are great. Got a lot of their kit .You pays your money and all that.
Have just bought a Norrona falketind PrimaLoft60 jacket; have no experience of their clothing so hope I've bought the right size! Wanted something light and compact but not down.
Thanks for the link, drlex.
Pleased with my Alpkit Filoment, previously had a Rab Micro but the zip gave up.
