We’re staying in Glasgow Friday night and I’ve booked the Premier Inn at Pacific Quay (Science centre) but does anyone know of anywhere closer to town (or West End) that has decent parking for a Van, so no height barriers and no dodgy dark alleyways?
Cheers 🙂
Good luck is all I'll say, anything of equivalent price will be booked out and similar parking story. What height is the van? If it's not stupid big then I'd fling it into Concert Square overnight. Surface parking-wise you're totally at the mercy of circumstance, we flung the car onto a rented space at the Gala next to the river which was fine but equally may not have been.
Best solution is leave the van at home and just jump on the train (assuming that's convenient).
Cheers, yeah I know it’s a big ask 🙂
Wouldn’t usually take the van but it’s our accommodation for the next night so need it really, would usually use the train.
And with the number of campers getting stolen I don’t really want to just leave it on street parking, I’m being a bit precious about it at the moment.
Oh, and it’s 2.8m

Premier Inn prices have risen somewhat, from a quick search there are actually quite a few options (Minus the carpark).
@BoardinBob yeah that’s why I’ve booked there 🙂
I was wondering if anyone knew anywhere closer to the city centre.
If is just to leave parked up during your stay then I've used 'Go Diesel' just along from Pacific Quay at Whitefield Road, they're truck mechanics but have quite a big secure yard (that, quite frankly looks like something out of Mad Max) in which they provide secure parking for vehicles. We put unit vehicles there when filming in Glasgow. So you could just drop your van there and then stay anywhere you like.

Ah got you know. I thought you were worried you couldn't get parked there
To be honest, it's only a short walk to the city centre from where you are. Over Bells Bridge and a nice walk along the river. Unless you've got an engagement in the centre, you're closer to Finniestion for dinner, drinks etc
Glasgow Hilton in the west end has it's carpark above waitrose next door and it was free.
Village Hotel, opposite STV studios on South side of the river ?
No barriers the last time we stayed

Boardinbob has a point.
Westend, city centre and finnieston really aren't far. How drunk are you planning to get?!
I third just hoofing it, I used to get dropped there after work and walk to St Georges Cross, it's really not a big walk at all. Plus you have the subway nearby.

Max height is 1.65m, I can't imagine there are (m)any multi's in Scotland that will take a 2.8m van least of all fitting Phil's requirements.
Just stay at the premier inn.
It’s a 15-20 minute walk to town, I’d rather go over into finniston, some tremendous bars and restaurants!
Oh and the crowne plaza over the water is far nicer than the premier inn!!

there's a premier in in the gorbals with a car park, easy walking up to the merchant city.
Guess it really depends where in the city you are planning on going. It's not that big tbh. you can walk from one end to the other fairly easily and subway to the west end is also easy. Taxi's later on also aren't likely to cost much to anywhere along the south side.
Pacific Quay Premier Inn is my got to for nights out in Glasgow. Short walk to the centre along the river and the same again on the way back. Path is wide and well lit. Unless you have mobility issues, I wouldn’t think you’d get much out of being closer. Never had an issue with parking at the hotel
Stayed there for three nights last year and it’s closer to city centre than it seems. Like others have said loads of nice places to eat and drink in Finnieston. Rather have a nice out there tan the city centre.

mine too, but it used to be cheap. Now it’s £100 I thought I might be able to do better, but as suspected not really.
Except the Village hotel emailed an offer for £35 for the night so I’ve cancelled Premier Inn and booked that 🙂
cheers all, sorted now.
I often park my camper at the Marriott just down from the Hilton, no height restriction there and have left my van overnight before.
I stayed Regularly at the Double Tree by Hilton and the underground car park there is plenty tall for a van. Also, if you stay there you park for free too, saving £22 a day.

Nice pool in the village. have used it now and again.

1.98m according to Google street view. About 75cm too low for me unfortunately… 😮
Unless there’s another one?
