You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
I've only recently discovered this new-ish genre (or sub-sub-sub-sub-genre more likely), and absolutely love it...
For those who haven't heard about it, it's early to mid-90s hardcore breakbeat style music - produced using modern techniques. Some producers from the 90s rave scene are still going strong...

Hmmmm, me likes - nice spot.
May have to download me a sets' worth and have a dabble at putting a mix together...
not sure I'm feeling it, maybe I'm too old and have heard an amen too many times, and they really aren't putting much effort into processing the break, unless its just that selection of tracks that are using it so heavily and untouched. I never really got into breaks nights though, just seemed a bit ploddy when dnb was my what I was enjoying most.
having said that, I might have to have a root around my old mixdown folder as I churned out a few tunes in the 140 area about ten years that rinse an amen heavily, ahead of my time obviously!
I said rinse lol. I'm 36.
You might like Paul Woolford's Special Request side project
I used to be a big fan of DnB, but the current material put out is very poor quality production (IMHO). My favourite years were 1998-2006..
If it's Amens you want, then check out "DJ Trace presents Amen Warfare"
Thanks for that, sounds pretty good.
Anything downloadable on Soundcloud or similar?
I'll have a dig around in my "digital crate" for you 🙂
That Paul Woolford tune is nice. This is one from about 8/9 years ago I think, rave breaks type thing:
Currently having a listen through what is thrown up under 'Future Jungle' on spotify. I can see stuff is being released by RAM still. Generally like the sound, D&B for me was best in late 90s and there's a lot of similarities.

(Jay has some stunning mixes in his collection)
Search for "140 Jungle Breaks" on Soundcloud too.
Now thoroughly distracted flicking between new and old
Bookmarked for later.
Head is still stuck back in 94, so will probly be sceptical 🙂
lol J-Tek.....
Been around for yonks.
Are you ready for some bloooooooooood-claaaaaart jungle techno?
Don't worry aphex_2k, thanks to various sources on the interwebz, I have the entire discog of Suburban Base, Moving Shadow, 31, Basement, RAM, Reinforced, Good Looking, etc... good couple of 1000 tunes from 1990+
My current "interest" in music is the newish stuff 🙂
Ah man some good labels there. Classic I daresay.
Being a Wolves boy I've always been big on Metalheadz and Goldie. Even people like Pilgrim. Rave was massive for Wolves - Quest days *sigh*
Oh if you haven't got any Virus or Hospital tunes you need to get back on the webz 😉
Oh if it's George n Bungle you like I can't see any Congo Natty there.
Dread Recordings
Urban Takeover (for the 'jump up' style)
Didn't like the Congo Natty stuff (and ragga-jungle as a whole). A bit too "Jamaican" for my liking.
Dread Recordings.... I'll have it shortly..

Yeah it's frequently terrible these days, since it flirted with the mainstream with your chase and status's and neros its gone really cheesy and churned out for the masses.
It's too easy to produce tracks from ready made loops and synth presets now and people lap it up regardless, I far preferred it when people were slicing up and processing their own breaks and reeces and making technically interesting dnb. Compare mid 2000's Noisia with the toss people churn out now for example. Those 140 tunes listed above are so basic, just an amen barely messed around with, with some barely processed synths and some stutter fx. I think dubstep is partly to blame, as people have become used to music with no emphasis on melody and using a very narrow range of sounds.
I'll just leave these here, noisia at the peak of their production, what I consider to be the technically best dnb I know of 🙂
Partisan Recordings. Future Engineers worth a listen if you like Bukem's label. Logical Prog / Prgrassion Sessions were my ultimate post Atomic Jam after party sessions mixes. Bliss.
Influential Records
Ebony Records
Frontline Records
True Playaz
Aphrodite Recordings
Got the whole Future Engineers discog, all of Bukem's GLR (which includes the Prog stuff - awesome CDs).
I have buckets of space, a laptop, and a basic DJ2Go controller. It' fun for messing around with, and compact (easy to tidy all away!).
Sadly I don't have the space - at the moment - for a proper setup (two 1210s, two CDJs, DJM mixer)
I learnt to beat match on two decks and a mixer, none of this laptop malarky! Although I was an early adopter of FinalScratch (back in 2003).
A bit too Jamaican you say?
Not really in keeping with most of this thread but...
Best jungle I've ever heard - raucous as ****!
