Hi all,

looking to move to Marsden from Stockport in the next few months all being well. Any other riders on here who I'd be able to join up with for local rides and show me the local trails?

I do a lot of running so have discovered some of the footpaths for running on, but someone to ride with for company and seeing the sights would be a bonus!

edit - I mean Marsden, Yorks 🙂

Ahh thought you meant Marsden as is South Shields... people do a lot of running around there, mainly from the Police.

Before any one starts my Mam was from Marsden... she lived in the posh bit Lizard Lane.

There's a few groups about, I'm part of a localish group from the colne and holme valleys.

There's a marsden mtb group as well.

Plenty of good riding around the area. Would be happy to show you the gnar.

There’s loads of decent trails around Marsden so you’ll have fun. Ride Kirklees on Facebook is a start and there are a couple of groups regularly riding from the village. I’m in Holmfirth but go over quite a lot so send a message when you move in and I can show you around. Can’t promise the glorious dry moorland singletrack we had since March though 🙁

Marsden...

Last time I was there a lady was wandering round with her pet on her shoulder; a skunk.

If Stephen King was from Huddersfield, he'd write stories about Marsden...

🙂

Thanks for the replies folks, and I'll definitely be in touch with those offering a tour!

As for the Skunk lady, I hope I don't see her....!

she lived in the posh bit Lizard Lane.

I was up there a couple of weeks ago. Had a bit of a ride round the edge of the golf course, and came out beside the caravan site

Bus 183 from Huddersfield Bus Station is the "Marsden Hard End" route. I doubt many of the lads I know from Marsden would be seen dead on any other route.

There's a local joke that Jesus wasn't born in Marsden because they couldn't find a virgin, or three wise men.

I'm Marsden based, there's some good riding locally and quite a few local riders. By all means get in touch when you are in the area and I'll show you around.

I’d be keen to find out where the good stuff is around Marsden too (I’m in Outlane).

Anyone fancy organising a ride or sharing a gpx? Be happy to show you round what I know in Hebden Bridge in return.

I really loved riding in that area of the Pennines when I mountain biked.

If you search on ridewithgps for Ride Kirklees, there's a few routes up on there. But also yes, drop me a message if you want a guided tour at some point.
