You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
We're beginning to clear out the house of my parent-in-law. Garage is a bit of a wonderland - loads of tools, general hardware. A lot is neatly sorted into a whole series of those little drawer racks but also plenty loose. There's a pretty big old vice in there too (I have one, so it's not coming with me) - didn't get near enough to see the model but will be there again early next week.
Lot of drills, spanners etc but likely at least a proportion will be Imperial. He was some variety of engineer/toolmaker so the stuff is probably of decent quality
It's going in a skip unless somebody either wants it all and can collect or gives me a better option; I don't really have time to sort through it all.
(*That's Sunbury-on-Thames, in case there are others)
When I had this issue I found a local charity called "Tool Aid" who collect donations of old tools and ship them to Afica.
I just googled and cant find anything like that very close to you, but maybe you could contact https://workaid.org/contact near Amersham and see if they are interested?
Please don't skip it! If you get to the stage where you think that's what you are going to do please DM me and I may consider the 180 mile drive to pick it up and take it to my local charity...
I will second the donation to Tool Aid (or similar). These guys have a place about 2 miles from my house and I could give them anything I cannot use : https://www.tfsr.org/

I am in Southampton so not such a drive and could be interested in collecting them. Have you got any more details / photos?
Â
How soon do you need them clearing?

@WorldClassAccident , I live about 10 miles from you, so now that I know that place exists I'll prob take it all home and get it to them.
Thanks both, that's definitely the kind of "better option" I was hoping for
If you are bringing the this direction, is there any chance of a quick look through to see if there is anything I NEED before you drop them off?
Sure, I'll let you know once they're here (will be a few weeks though)
Hmmm, things escalated a bit when we cleared the shed at the bottom of the garden; can't see this lot getting to Africa 🤣Â
Not sure I've got the bottle for these !
... and definitely not this:
I'll have the lathe!
I'll have the lathe!
Well it seems potentially pretty valuable so it'll initially have to go into probate valuation I think. Family will probably sell it and proceeds to charity. Going back up there in a few weeks to clear out properly so at least they'll have an idea of what's actually there - spare chucks etc
 - you didn't fancy the welder/torch/jetpack mystery item ??

Yes, well worth selling. You'll get a reasonable amount for it regardless of the condition.
