Looking at something like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/QI-Wireless-Charger-Pad-External-Battery-7000mah-for-Nexus-5-4-Lumia-920-BC282-/201086317240?pt=UK_MobilePhones_MobilePhoneAccessories_MobilePhoneChargers&hash=item2ed1adb2b8 for my Nexus 4 and also as a GPS back up battery pack for Hols and multi day trips.
I'm wondering if anyone has bought a relatively cheap product like this off ebay and regretted/loved it.
cheers

I bought one of these:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Qi-Wireless-Power-Charger-Charging-Pad-for-Nokia-Lumia-820-920-LG-Google-Nexus-4-/281268955884?pt=UK_MobilePhones_MobilePhoneAccessories_MobilePhoneChargers&hash=item417cefaaec

It's a cheap QI charger and my idea was to wire it in to the car so all I had to do was drop my phone on it and it would charge while I drove. It worked but it seems to be very inefficient, you can open it up and it's just a coil which is constantly sucking power. After 2 weeks it had ran the car battery flat and that was with it only powered when the ignition was on! This is a BMW 5 series diesel (lots of electronics, big battery) and the phone wasn't even on the charger alot of the time as the wife uses it more than me.
By comparison I also have a ZENS QI charger in the house which is much more intelligent and turns itself off when not it use. Next plan is to swap the two of these round and see if it works any better but I haven't got there yet.
I would consider buying 2 seperate devices for what you want as they are really quite different. The QI charge should always stay put to drop a phone on, and a powerpack should be as small as possible so you actually want to take it away with you. Using a cable to charge your phone for the few days you're away probably isn't going to be a huge hardship.

Wales this week did a programme on cheap chargers last year.
They bought some from ebay and some from unlock your phone shops.
80 percent failed the safety checks.
Take from this what you wish.

Purchased something similar from Amazon a few years ago (and q quick look shows a few at £22 ish) and has been faultless (when I remember to bring it).

EDIT: Nope, didn't read your post properly. My one was wired, sorry. Does it use magic?
