So I'm sitting in my flat with a stinking cold all weekend and can't watch anything on my '05 relic of a computer, it gives up on the simplest of tasks.
I'm looking to get a new mother board and processor and fit it into my tower but I'm a bit out of the loop so I though I'd ask before I waste money on something I don't really want to spend it on.
Was looking at these
Asus M5A78L-M motherboard mainly for the HDMI (USB3 in the future)
AMD FX4130 processor
and 4GB ram
I can get this at my local shop for £195 but will probably be able to beat him down on the price a bit.
Does this seem ok I don't need any crazy powerful computer I'm not going to be gaming or anything on it, so it's kind of hard to know where to start.
Any advice recommendations welcome.
Seems a little expensive. Take some online quotes for the same bits to the shop.
Fine components though. Don't forget you'll need a new CPU fan possibly as well as a new psu, probably.
Is that supply, fit and warranty?
samuri- I know about the cpu fan, the psu was new last year so should be ok for a little while, only the processor and hard drive are the original parts everything else has been changed several times.
b r- parts only,
after trawling through ebay I think there's better deals to be had there.
Its all just numbers and letters.
Have a look at Scan, they do bundles of the likes you seek (worth keeping an eye on the 'today only' page for bargains).
You need to free up the ports by syncing 80 and 45. Assuming of course that you have already reconfigured the ADM multiplexer after the initial sync command.
Or something like that.
I've had bundles from novatech before - not sure they're any better than the rest but they're quite local to me and I have had a warranty replacement from them before without problems
