Is there anyone on here I can quiz for some help please. Finding the car bodywork a minefield.
Please
Cheers!
What’s the question? I don’t paint but I’ve put a few panels on a car or two.
As above what's the question?
thanks guys. Well to cut a long story short, im doing a full respray on a land rover defender. Its going to be a concourse rebuild.
unfortunately at this stage in the current climate, funds are really tight. And i wondered if 'ProSpray' bodyshop paint off ebay is good stuff?

And if so, basecoat and laquer what quantities for inside and out? thanks all
Surely all landrovers are brush painted with whatever is around in the garage at the time?
Unless you have a booth, big compressor (with drier) and full PPE (mask with independent air supply), forget painting it at home if you're looking for a concourse vehicle. 2-pack paints should be treated with caution.
Having said that with a lot of time (and effort) it is possible to get a great finish using a synthetic ('cellulose') single pack paint.
Back in the day I repaired insurance write-offs for a living and I painted loads of cars and vans in a shed, but I never used 2 pack paints, just a synthetic single pack that was the modern equivalent of a traditional cellulose paint.
You can still get cells from some shops. Do you want the boiled sweet gloss of two pack or the softer edge of cellulose?
I don’t paint but if I did it would be celly. I’d consider brush painting a landie.
thanks guys. Im doing all the prep and a body shop friend of a friend is painting it for me. Unfortunately i can get in contact at the moment.
Any body recommend quantities for a defender 90 van please
