So my boiler decided to hit me with a pre-emptive strike. Just before the temperature dropped it decided to blow a fuse (normal 3A one in the plug), followed by any replacement within around 12 hours. To add to the trouble (now that it is coldish) Scottish Gas cant come out until next Tuesday 🙁
I know that the chances are ultra slim, but is there a chance that this could be something simple? And fixable by an idiot?
Cheers
EDIT: Googling the topic is out as my broadband has shat itself (thanks BT), bizarrely STW is currently the only site I get on!
this happened to my boiler recently + it turned out to be the pump had failed
could be something else of course - just same symptoms
fong
My faulty timer clock took out the fast blow fuse on the pcb I replaced and unfortunately it then took out the pcb! Well that all I could accredit it too!!
Pump is a common fuse blower, but on a combi there is so much more it could be! good luck.
piece of string really I'm affraid
Managed to get Scottish Gas round sooner (something to with the website not doing emergency bookings) so a couple of dodgy connections have been sorted and we're away again.
However.....I also got them round for a new boiler quote - that was an eye-watering experience 😯 £2300 - £3300 (the high price is if we want it to fit in the existing space) for Scottish Gas to supply and fit, think I'll look around thanks
