Don't need to spend a fortune as it won't be getting loads of use & probably mainly for measuring the diameter of fishing line!
I know Aldi & Lidl sometimes have them but are they any good or just 'toy ones'?

Hey, not sure if it's the same thing but I picked up some digital calipers in Aldi t'other day for £8.99. Seem like decent enough quality. I've not had reason to use them yet so can't really comment on function.
Edit: just like the ones in the second picture, but with different branding.
The vernier one in the bottom is a rebranded genric chinese, available for £3-4 on fleabay. Ive found it to be fine as long as you dont crack the screen!
It's not a Vernier, it's a digital calliper. Vernier's have a Vernier Scale on them.
Emailed you esselgruntfuttock.
Cheers Lee, got it.
I've got a couple of the cheap ones. They work very well apart from the batteries going flat very quickly.
My Lidl one has been great. No idea of the accuracy but if I'm measuring something that's supposed to be X size then the calipers show it as being X size
Avoid one with batteries, always flat when you need them. I prefer the ones with the proper vernier scales...
I've been very happy with my £3.99 Netto plastic ones from years back.
Poundland card of batteries means it doesn't matter if they go flat.
They help me to measure prototypes to make sure they have been built to spec. Then of course I use it to check seatpost/collar/bar measurements as well.
They are in Aldi right now.
