Talking Heads . Slippery people = brilliant , everything else = poor .

Bauhaus - Bela Lugosi's Dead

Not a favourite but saw the Automatic playing at a festival when the only track anyone had head of was Monster coming over the hill, they kicked off with that then everyone left...
Katina and the waves, walking on sunshine (wooohooohooo)
Potentially a great thread apart from your outrageous opening comment OP.... 🙂
Matthew Wilder - "Break my Stride " 😳 😉
Primitives - "Crash"
Dead or Alive - "You Spin me Round ( Like a Record)"
Muse - Super Massive Black Holes
too much organ bolloxs in the rest.
Anaatacia [url=
Left Outside Alone
Oasis +1
Very few apart from that
Talking Heads? really? now there are only a handful of their songs I like out of a big catalog, but those are pretty good
Blur - There's No Other Way
MC Hammer
Iron by Woodkid. So damn good, everything else he touches seems to be drivel.
The ordinary boys - bought the wife their first album based on the strength of the first single, massive pile of sh...
Agree to a point with oasis too, live forever was great, never really liked the rest.
@klunk super massive black hole was the start or the downward slide for muse, you need to go back instead of forwards, all of the new stuff is pap.

Sweet Home Alabama?
Nope, or any of their others - the point of the thread right there.
Now, Johnny Cash - don't like any of his songs (that I've heard). Mind you I thought the same of Dolly Parton til I heard 9 to 5 🙂

Actually their first single was called Raoul, and IMO was far far better than Monster. Their successive single, Steve McQueen, was also far better!
For me, the ones that spring to mind:
Idlewild - Modern way of Letting Go
Gaslight Anthem - 59 Sound
Imagine Dragons - It's Time
Only one I can think of is Prefab Sprout - I bought the single "Don't Sing".
Everything else I've heard by them is atrocious!
njee20 - MemberIdlewild - Modern way of Letting Go
Pretty much every early Idlewild song after they learned to play their instruments (sort of midway through Captain) sounds exactly like Modern Way of Letting Go! Then all of a sudden one day they became a more boring REM.
Goyte somebody that I used to know.
The Las - There She Goes.
Really shot their bolt with that.
Carter USM - Sheriff Fatman
The Shamen - Move any mountain
Stone Temple Pilots - Plush
Soundgarden - Black Hole Sun
Wigfield - Saturday night 😉
Elbow - One day like this
and
'Grounds for Divorce' is a good shout. Jeez, have you tried to listen to a whole album by those dreary bastards?!

Perhaps I should revisit then, I went newer, and was underwhelmed. That said, I liked American English, but in a different way.
This thread is made for Sir Mixalot.
I liked Black Velvet by Alannah Myles when I was at school so I bought the album. Everything else on it was bad enough that I returned it to the shop.
I did a similar thing with BRMC by Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, which I bought on the strength of Whatever Happened to My Rock and Roll, and quickly returned. I did end up buying it again several years later when the album was very cheap, but the other tracks don't hold a candle to that one.
The Beatles - Paperback Writer
Unfortunately I have bought too many albums based on one single.
I actually have a playlist called 'Great Track C**p Album"!
One Armed Scissor by At The Drive In. I really like that song but the rest of the album is terrible (to my ears anyhow).
Can't think of many others really.
I'd disagree with Black Hole Sun by Soundgarden - I reckon they've done loads of good stuff (Spoonman, Rusty Cage, Kickstand etc).

Yes, every single one, many times. As I have the band, actually, six or seven, so far.
You're the sort of person, though, who thinks Leonard Cohen is miserable.
Bugger, stupid interwebz made double-post. Grrrr.
As heard on the radio today; Edwin Collins.
Alkaline trio made a few good songs I liked, hated anything but those 3 though.
Jimmy Nail - Ain't no doubt.
Halo James - could've told you so.

That right Elbow fan?
Anyone mentioned Dana Rel Ley yet? I remember the STW musos bigging her up. The next best thing she was.
Slightly controversial.....The Beatles.
Paperback Writer is a blinder....but the rest?
Madonna - Ray of Light.
World of Twist - Sons of the Stage.
Oasis - Rocking Chair.
Kings of Leon - The Bucket.
