Got loads of ants on our patio just outside our kitchen. Tried putting a powder ant killer down where they had entrances as they appear but this just moved them to a different part of the patio. Tried lots of times but they just keep moving around.

Any ideas on how to get rid of them? Any kind of liquid we can pure into their nest?

We have pets so need to be careful with how much poison we use.

We used these - worked a lot better than the powder stuff.

Yeah I also put one of those bait station things down recently as we had some ants in the kitchen. Ants disappeared overnight. Got it from b&q for about £4 a pair I think

Under every plant pot in our garden is an ants nest. Actually inside some of the bigger ones. Nature doing natural things etc.

What's the actual issue, caller?

We've got them in the kitchen also - good reminder for me to go and get a few of those, thanks.

For us, ants appear on the patio shortly before coming in the house. Those gel bait stations linked above work well.

We had them coming into the dining room, those Ant Stop things worked a treat - had been through loads of powder up until that point.

they were here way before we came along and expect they will be here way after we have left. One way to avoid ants is to find another planet to live on.

Ants can burrow through the mortar under your patio, resulting in the slabs lifting

are they actually coming into your kitchen, though? If so, they’re not doing it because they like being in kitchens… they’re just looking for food. So, don’t leave any out they can get to, dirty plates, pet food etc. if they don’t find food then the rest won’t get called in too! The ant stations posted above seem to work well on the stragglers.

best murder everything that might cause you a slight inconvenience in the future then, that’s the spirit 😂

When I had ants coming into my house, I found that they don't like Eucalyptus oil. As I didn't have any I substituted for Olbas oil as it has eucalyptus in it. I found where they were getting in (front door) and sprinkled some oil around the area. They stopped coming in overnight. I'm sure they lived happily outside after that, or maybe decided someone else house was preferable.

Whatever you do. don't nuke the entire site from orbit. I saw a film about the consequences...

Just remove whatever they are eating, they will soon move on

Ants are more than welcome in my house, so long as they pay their share of the mortgage.

We have had them in our house. I didn't find the powder that good. But we got a trap - think it was called "Ant Stop", and it did the job. It works on the basis that the ant will go into the trap and take out some bait and bring it back to the nest. And trust me, they will die off quite quickly

No idea how to get rid of them, but i was lifting some bulbs on the weekend and noticed they had colonised some plants, as in totally taken them over and built small nests around the corms, complete with eggs and larvae .
Also watch them farming aphids on my plum tree which keeps dropping leaves every summer due to aphid infestation.
