Actor Anton Yelchin, known for his roles in "Star Trek" and "Alpha Dog," was killed early Sunday morning after getting pinned by his own car ... TMZ has learned.
Yelchin's friends became alarmed because he was supposed to meet them hours earlier for a rehearsal. They went to his San Fernando Valley home at around 1 AM and found him pinned between his car and a brick mailbox, which was attached to a security gate.
Law enforcement tells us the engine was running when his body was discovered, and the car was in neutral. The driveway was on a fairly steep incline. It's unclear why he got out of the car.
Cops do not suspect foul play.
Yelchin was 27.
RIP
That's shit, and bizarre at the same time. Liked him in Alpha Dog.
That's tragic. Auto box and he thought it was in park ? Quite easy to go from drive to neutral and not all the way to Park ?
I liked him in Rudderless. What a way to go.
I liked him too, he was a great child actor as well as an adult. Such a shame.
Tragic accident 🙁
He was good in a film called Odd Thomas too.
Funny you should say that. I've read the books (well, the first two) but never seen the film, and my OH has just read them (like this week) after me recommending them for months. Probably the time to watch it.
Real shame, he was great in Star Trek, really good bit of casting.
Sad news....
