Is there much "technology" in anti vibration mats or is it just a slab of rubber?
In which case, should I just buy the cheapest thickest one I can?
Is it safe to say that thicker mats offer greater isolation?
We want to move the washing machine and tumble dryer upstairs.
We use a product at work called Fabcel.
its most commonly used for placing machines on / isolating vibration.
cant say how it works compared to ordinary rubber sheet
Wow, that Fabcel is spendy!
Any other rubber experts in this evening?
Have a look on a hifi forum, the debate around sound damping materials is even more furious than wheel size debates on bike forums 😉
Washing machines are not precision made though, so putting one upstairs is a very bad idea, unless you maybe hang it from the ceiling on a system of bungee strings.
A rubber mat would make next to no difference, you'd be better off upgrading the internals of the washer itself if you want to make it more silent
