Following on from my last thread (and now that I have almost finished 'Eleventh Month, Eleventh Day, Eleventh Hour'), I am now wanting to read something about how, after the chaos and rebellion of the Germans at the end of the First World War, how they rose to power again and how Hitler came to lead the country once more into war (and, more importantly, how on earth did they not learn from 1914-18).
Any recommendations?
The Vanquished is a general look at the mess which remained after the end of WWI.
A very different, but interesting, book is Travellers in the Third Reich.
Hitler by Ian Kershaw as the name suggests has a certain focus but does go beyond just him.
this may be a novel, but it does describe the time between the wars incredibly well
