My youngest (just turned 11) would like a laptop for Christmas. She will want to play Minecraft and Roblox, watch YouTube and maybe on occasion do some homework on it.
I'm hoping to keep the costs down in the region of £250-£300 but might consider a little more if it provides a significantly better option. I'm assuming I'll need something refurbished at this price.
I'm absolutely clueless about this sort of thing, so what would the STW hive mind recommend?
After the last thread on here we bought a refurbished Dell as the also had a further 35% off for black Friday
Dell Latitude 7290, Standard, 12.5" HD (1366 x 768), Webcam, 1x Intel Core i5 Quad (i5-8350U) 1.70 GHz, 8 GB, 256 GB, No Optical, Intel Integrated Graphics, UK Backlit Keyboard, 64-bit Windows 10 Pro
GRAND TOTAL
Seems to do what we want it to for not a lot of money
I have a 7480 that I bought refurbed tw0 years ago and yes they are great solid laptops but not sure they have enough power to run something like Minecraft. For £300 why not look at desktops? You can buy a decently powerful Dell Optiplex for around £150 and then throw in a second hand graphics card. Then you have something actually capable of gaming at an enjoyable level.

and maybe on occasion do some homework on it.
Christ, I span that line when I was 11. Plus ca change.

🤣
I should have learnt my lesson, the other two pretended they were going to do homework too...
Thanks for the suggestions, I'll check them out.
