Hi,
Thinking of buying a second hand XC60, 2016 2.4 Auto diesel. Any current owners out there? MPG, Issues? Its from a main stealer so warranted. 60k on the clock.
cheers.
I'm in the throes of missing my 2013 V70.
BiL had an XC60. After years of moaning about missing it, he finally caved and bought his wife an XC90...
Volvo Pro's - they are just so nice and so stylish a place to be in, comfy, logical and just work. Hoofing stereo, heated leather armchair.
Con's - not as efficient as you might want. XC60 isn't that big a space, particularly boot.
I'm missing the Ovlov, it did 5 years and 80k without major issue.
I'm enjoying having a small petrol turbo, it's just as efficient as a diesel and yet feels nicer to drive.
I'm still allowed in cities in a couple of years. It was half the price of a newer Volvo...
Just bought a XC60 after my Merc was nicked last month. A very relaxing car to drive, with a very good ride but a fair bit smaller boot than my E class estate boot. No idea of diesel efficiency - bought a petrol since I drive into London ULEZ about once a week and at some point I think they will ban diesels.
I liked mine - incredibly agricultural in its drive but very enjoyable.
I had a 2016 diesel auto, the engine was harsh and clattery and the auto gearbox was terrible compared to latest audi or merc. Boot was small in relation to the size, and I didn't like the handling at speed. Economy was poor, which may have been related to the dpf regen thing.
Andos, which engine? One I am looking at is the 2.4 diesel with auto box
I have an XC60, absolutely love it. Pleasure to drive, it is simply the best car I have ever had. Previous two cars were Jaguar XF and Audi A4 estate it knocks spots off both of them. It is the T8 Plug in hybrid.
@monkeysfeet, that'll be the one of the last 5 cylinder D5s. Loads of grunt, sounds OK for a diesel, and I've not heard of many issues - it doesn't really have to work very hard. Not particularly economical, but not really thirsty either. 10k miles a year means it been used but not hammered, so that's good. If it's got FSH and the price is OK, can't see what not.
We had one, a D5 auto with all the whistles and bells on it, same year that you are looking at. Absolutely lovely car for A roads and motorways, went very well, extremely comfortable and very nice to drive.
Wasn't keen on what seemed like a lumbering engine and slow gearbox but that changed the more I got used to it.
The safety aids, toys and comfort were the best bits, together with a feeling you could drive all day and get out feeling like you've just nipped to the shops.
Long story short, we sold it (not because we wanted to get rid of it) and now have a Discovery Sport which is half the car the Volvo was.
We didn't have any problems in about 18 months use.
I have a 2015 2.4 diesel auto and it's a great car. Good seats, pleasant to spend time driving, no boot lip makes it very practical (dog, changing, sliding bikes in & out, etc.).Fuel economy is neither great or terrible.
Very little issues. I'd happily replace it with an another XC60.
Next door had one, check the yearly tax on it if you've not had a large car before. And consider the cost of tyres too, IIRC they were eyewatering per corner.
Just changed my XC60 D4 litre diesel in March this year for a new XC40 petrol.
Did 65,000 miles in 4 years.
1 service per year,
2 front tyres at 30k. then rotated at 45k,
1 set rear disc pads,
Diesel,
Screen wash,
Fabulously comfortable seats. Quite often 300 mile day work trips.
Build quality spot on. No creaks or rattles on fenland roads.
100% satisfied.
Oooo a Volvo thread. I've been thinking about an XC 90 to replace my ageing Discovery 2. We need 7 seats and tow a lot, so it's good to know that they're comfy and reliable. Was thinking about a late Disco 3 but worried about reliability.
My old boy has an XC60 - and I’m jealous. Some of this jealousy is tempered by the pokey boot, but otherwise it’s great

if you are talking of the MK1 Gothenburg XC90 rather than the newer Ghealy - then the gearboxes are a weak point for towing.
The problem being the engine is transverse and fairly lengthy so leaves little room for a decent gearbox. The Asain Warner boxes fitted aren't very robust. At the very least if a tow bar is retro fitted you need to make sure a gearbox cooler is fitted as per the factory fitted towbars.
