Am I just getting older and more cynical, or is the general trend rapidly shifting to "**** it, I'll get away with it"???
RIP
Caught the scumbag...
"Detectives investigating a fatal collision involving a car and a cyclist in Harworth have arrested a 26-year old man in connection with the incident.
A 44-year old man – the cyclist – was killed during the collision in Faraday Close, which was reported to Nottinghamshire Police just after 2pm on Tuesday.
If you have any information which could assist please contact Nottinghamshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 434 of 24 June, 2015."

Something I found pretty relevant... When London was testing out allowing ptws (scooters and motorbikes) into buslanes, everyone logically expected it to cause crashes and injure more cyclists. But it didn't- and it massively reduced the number of collisions involving cyclists and cars. The only convincing explanation I saw for this, is just that drivers were more careful when they thought that instead of hitting a cyclist, they'd hit 200 kilos of motorbike, travelling at higher speeds, with a train of insurance and lawyers riding behind it. Upping the consequence (immediate and longterm) instantly reduced the number of "accidents" Pretty grim tbh.
Turns out this one might not have been an accident. The driver has been charged with murder.
Think that may be a different incident ?
Relevant to this thread - I got road raged on my way home today, in Nottingham funnily enough.
The eejit didn't seem to realise that almost hitting other cars in your effort to teach a cyclist a lesson does little more than generate some really good witnesses, who are willing to report it to the police and make statements.
We're all off to the police station in the next few days.
The best part was him mouthing off about there being nothing I could do as I didn't have a go-pro.
Don't believe so, all the details are the same.
BBC has one story about a 26 yr old man arrested after the death of a 44 yr old male cyclist, and another story about 2 men charged with the murder of a female pedestrian, that's what confused me. Just seen the Notts Police website, says the 26 yr old was arrested on suspicion of murder. My mistake. (The Facebook link isn't working for me). Bad news all round.

I'd have smiled sweetly and said "oh yes I do."

Didn't need one, by the time I called 101 the nice ladies in the car he almost hit had called it in, with the same plate (which was a real one) and details, to the same call handler. Which was nice.
sobriety - Whereabouts in Nottingham, as I usually cycle in to work?
The local rag also says murder, however it says the incident happened 200yds around the corner...
The incident happened just over the brow of a railway bridge...
Hockyley/Ice arena/up Carlton Hill. He was properly going for it.
Interestingly this has now been reported as an actual murder case, seems the driver and cyclist knew each other through training at a body building gym...
Nowt as queer as folk!
