My Acer Aspire isn't really cut out for playing Civ 5 or X-Com, so where should I be looking for a laptop that's up to the job?
As always, I'm looking for the best performance for my pound, so a £1500 Alienware job isn't in the running. Any pointers?
MacbookPro 15 Retina.
Any other requirements? Size, price, weight?
This looks pretty good. Asus laptops are great build quality. This one is on offer as well. Dedicated GPU.

My dad got himself a Core i7 Toshiba that looks pretty good. I'll ask him where he got it and how much it was, but as he's not a big game player, I have no idea how good it will be for graphics. Most integrated laptops are a bit poo for that.
Stick with discrete graphics for gaming (MacBook, that sort of thing) and even if the processor is less heavyweight, it will be better.
The Asus looks pretty good...is there anything comparable out there? That's right at the top end of my possible price range.
That Novatech looks nice...the extra 4gb of memory for eighteen sniffs looks good too.
2nd Novatech, have recommended them to two friends now, and they both love them.
If you're really bothered about value for money... buy a laptop case and screen 2nd hand, and buy the best parts you can. Bit of effort but you end up with insane value for money.
