Hello,
Looking for floor paint recommendations please.
I need the usual things, tough enough to survive knocks and scrapes, wipe clean for water, oil, dirt, etc the bikes will drip all over it. The floor is plywood.
.
The difference here is that this is in my van, so will be subject to more vibrations (and probably flexing) than most garage floors.
What type would people suggest? It's a very small area so cost probably won't be a consideration.
Thanks
For durability and easy to clean in a van I’d go tour for Altro vinyl flooring. The down side is that it’s slippy and loads can slide about as you drive.
I’ve put the foam rubber tiles from Halfords on top of my vinyl and it’s great, warm to sit on, soft enough to be comfy on your knees. Easy to take out and clean, doesn’t absorb water or oil and is very cheap to replace if you need to
Slippery shouldn't really be a problem, the jerry cans and tool boxes and things will be restrained (I don't want 20kg of diesel can in the back of the head if I crash) and the bikes will be held in a rack (going to make a couple of those pull-out ones)
However, I had vinyl in my old van and it wasn't very tough, looked nice when it was new but tore really easily. How tough is the Altro stuff? Also, there's a few shapes (camper, rather than van van) and paint would be much easier to get into the nooks and crannies.
Just carry some in the back and a friend to hold it safe and secure.
NWS. There's some sweary words.
Altro is nothing like vinyl
I have Altro in the garage of my van . It's bomb proof.
I have vinyl in the habitation area and its shit.
Altro is used in bus floors and commercial kitchens. You would have to be really trying to damage it.
Bedec MSP (multi surface paint) brilliant brilliant product
Job done
