Hello,
Grant Combi 90 mkII external oil boiler, serviced myself for years with a bit of online assistance and a bit of puzzling.
Recent issue of: very brief burst of hot water followed by luke warm tail off if the heating was running, straight to cold if not. Given work commitments and potential multiple options to investigate got a recommendation on a engineer to pop out to diagnose and sort. He seemed good, declared the blend valve was gone and ordered and fitted a replacement, month wait due to parts and his time but we managed with lukewarm showers and the central heating has been unaffected throughout. He did a full service and adjusted oil pressure to get the burn right which is beyond my equipment/ability to do.
Initially seems better post the blend valve replacement but not perfect and poor hot water performance when then heating has been off for a while, most noticeably the rads kick in when you run the hot water. So i'm suspecting the diverter valve, but if a £90 punt so just checking here for any alternative suggestions or diagnostic options?
Help gratefully appreciated
additional: diaphram in diverter is fine, checked it and its popping out the required amount, activates the switch to start the pump and fire the burner. Pump also working.
Has the diverter valve got a manual lever on the side below tge actuator.
If it does try to manually move it over and lock it into place, there is a revetment for this. See if that cures your hot water issues
Thanks singletrackmind, not from memory but i will have a good look
You've paid a man to fix it. It's not fixed. Get him back in to finish the job?
has crossed my mind cougar, but blend valve that was removed is knackered so can't particularly fault his replacement of it.
His availability to come back is limited, then factoring ordering parts and potential second visit to replace, i'd rather move on with a self repair if i can get confident in diagnostic.
