OK, so my Samsung S8 (bought off here a few years back) is looking kaput. Want
- android
- micro SD slot
- brilliant camera
- budget is important, not keen to spend a fortune!
That's about it ... so what's recommended for camera/photo use ... been v happy with the S8 camera so that level upwards, thanks
The Pixel 4 (and the 3) have the 'best' cameras. They are pretty peerless, particularly in low light.
But niether have SD slots, and even on this weekend's special offer, the cheapest 4 is still £519.
Huawei do a fantastic camera on the P30 Lite (48 Mega Pixel) and that's just £230. Still no SD slot though (unless I'm mistaken).
Alternative, but more cash will be Samsung again, whatever 'S' you can afford.
But Pixel cameras are the ones, driven by software more than hardware, so ignore the pixel count.
I'm on on Pixel 2 and bought it (from CEX) primarily for the camera. Pretty spanking.
The new S20 is pretty impressive on paper.
thanks all .. Pixel 3 Vs 4, any sig camera difference? And looks like the Pixel is 'better' than P30 Lite?
S20 ...hmmm, looks great but outside my affordability ... ideally secondhand or <£4-500 new
p30 lite is 180 quid on Amazon. Has an SD Slot. If it's not solely about the camera, then battery life on the Pixels isn't great.
Pixel 3 Vs 4, any sig camera difference? <\blockquote>
No real difference in the cameras.
At launch the 4 had some low light features, taking pictures of stars and so on.
These features were rolled out retrospectively to the 3 though, so not really much of a difference.
To be fair, another benefit of Pixel is these retrospective upgrades, at least for a couple of years if you buy a 4.
Anyone else struggle with quote?
Switches on but can’t turn it off...
Recent Pixel 3a convert following recommendation on here. Love it, not finding lack of SD slot problematic. Yet.
Camera really is great IMO.
Edit:
Anyone else struggle with quote?
I haven't done, no... 😉
the P30 Lite at £180 looks very tempting ...just Googling away to see how the camera compares to my S8 ...
P30 Pro - especially in RAW mode is amazing.
Love the wide-angle and optical zoom.
Slightly over-processed in JPEG mode for me - but I'm picky.
