ive always struggled with my photos not syncing from phone to chromebook. googled it time and time again and still not been able to suss it. finally found a google thread that worked, which said to got to phones photos app, choose 'assistant' from the bottom tab and make sure its set to sync from there.
seems to have worked, as now both my phone and laptop both have same pics in 'photos' which was the aim.

however, im now getting log-in failed notifications all the time. says login failed and then my gmail acc, the one im already signed in with on the account. i also log in through the internet and have no trouble, i can always access my gmail.
so why does it keep saying every few minutes that my logins failed? i click it and re-enter my correct password, says authentication failed.
it also says google sign-in attempt prevented. (weirdly enough i get an email saying this!) it says someone tried to sign in from an app that doesnt meet modern security standards. "we strongly recommend you use a secure app like gmail to access your account"

so...... whats going on???

thanks

EDIT: switch my auto sync off, it doesnt happen, so its tied in with that

Ummm, seems to work ok for me using Google photos app? There's some settings in there about syncing across all photos to the web which then sync with my laptop?

Sorry if you've tried this already!

Make sure all your apps are up to date?

There is an option somewhere in gmail to allow access by less secure apps.

here it is

You can switch that and it might help things, although personally I'd be wary of doing that and try to fix the problem with updates instead.

chambord, that seems to have done the trick, thanks!

what i dont understand tho is why im doing this? it was failing to log in to gmail which it says is a secure app. so is it now saying that gmail is less secure?

confused...... but grateful thanks 🙂

Generate an "app password" and use that password when logging in on your android device.

https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/185833?hl=en

"How to generate an App password"

I have to do this as I have two factor authentication enabled on my google account.

You can then disable the allow less secure apps thing to keep your account security levels up.
