Has anyone ever suffererd from peroneal subluxation or peroneal tendonitus. Its basically the tendons that run around the outside of the ankle bone flicking out of place. Im waiting to see a consultant to confirm but just wondering if anyone has any experience of tne injury. Thanks in advance
Yes... suffered with it from age 17-18 to about 36...
Then finally went and saw a specialist (apparently who actually designed/founded the operation!)... Did the whole filing down of the ankle bone to make the slot for the tendon deeper, and cut some other ligaments in foot to run the tendon under them (instead of 'over' as normal), then screw those back in place..
all in all was 3 months of non weight bearing with crutches, (which wasn't easy!), but since then never looked back! Able to run, do tri's and snowboard without the fear of it 'popping out'...
btw... Am now over 50 and its still holding!!
Wow thats a long time to be suffering. Its only been 6 weeks for me and painfull when it happens. Glad to hear its somthing thats able to gain a full recovery from. I had feared it might be an operation job, but just want it sorted now. 6 weeks iff tbe bike is killing me
Yes... At the time I didn't really look into seeing if it could be fixed!!
Good luck with the consultation!
I suffered peroneal tendinopathy last year. Work paid for a series of physio appointments. Advice was pretty much to increase hip stability to limit make running more efficient on the ankle and increasing my training load for a bit.
Seemed to work.
What are the symptoms?
