I've been watching Premier Sports for the ice hockey, and they keep playing WWF commercials asking viewers to sponsor a snow leopard.
Normally such commercials would leave me cold, but when the announcer mentions that the leopards get poached because people use the creature's bits for 'medicine', I find it in-effing-credible.
Many years ago, some black bears were found mutilated in a forest in Manitoba because their testicles were much sought-after for some Chinese concoction.
When it comes to other social/political issues, there are often things we can do (boycotting goods/voting/publicly protesting). Do you think there is anything we can do to make ourselves heard in response to this disgusting practice? 👿
I saw a TV show where conservationists were chopping off ivory horns from rhinos and replacing it with a fake horn made of resin. Maybe they could do the same with the cats' dangly bits.
That might stop poaching but it's not going to do much for the survival of the species.
What about the whole Chinese medicine thing? I couldn't care less about 'alternative medicine'; it's the animal slaughter and mutilation that needs to stop.
