Your divisive view of politics is so profoundly depressing and simplistic, but I guess it’s nice to think of everything in terms of good vs evil.

This is a complete straw man.

Of course I don’t think ‘winning PMQs’ will do that, finally having a competent opposition leader hopefully will.

Competent yes... effective? the jury is still out but it's not looking promising.

Andy Burnham has forced the Government into retrospective measures like the business support thing. It's the first time since God knows when that anyone from the opposition has held the govt to account. Holding them to account doesn't mean winning the argument at pmq's, it means getting them to change tack, which is what the Govt are doing (a little bit) right now.

I quite like Angela Rayner but she got it wrong, providing a distraction when it is plain for all to see that the govt are modifying the agreement after the fact. Calling him Tory scum was stupid because in order to get anywhere Labour needs to get back ex Labour voters who switched allegiances. She's inadvertently calling ex Labour voters scum too.

If she felt it necessary to use insults she should have called him a scumbag instead. It would have been far more effective.

This year has seen U-turn after U-turn from the government after opposition from... the opposition... including Rayner, Starmer, Dodds, Miliband, Nandy and, of course, Burnham. There will be more... the government have no choice... why they feel need to resist taking action that it's clear as hell they'll have to... like helping workers pay their bills when their sector is either shout down, or made to operate on less than 50% normal trade, because of emergency laws needed because of the epidemic. It was always going to be needed... resisting just makes them look like they are making it up as they go along, while the opposition signposts where we going and what needs doing.

You are completely deluded if you think waging class warfare and restoring to stayed stereotypes will deliver a Labour government. Many on the left are simply shouting into their own tiny echo chamber. They really are their own worse enemy.

TBF it's all echo chambers now, whether you're Left or Right leaning, you view and/or 'like' the stuff that floats your political boat and the Al Gore Rhythm adjusts your chamber's echoes to suit your proclivities, the trouble is it's seldom stays sensible... And then social meeja isn't real life, and in actual real life, people have been pointing out the bastardly ways our leaders are behaving too...

This week we've gone from the Tories justifying strangling a major city's economic prospects, to literally starving poor children... But it's still "the lefts" fault because they've not shouted loud enough or used the right echo chamber? Eff off!

At some point you have to accept, we're being governed by ****less bastards...

And what's actually so terrible about calling it out as it is?
It's already "class warfare" Tories (a bunch who are disproportionately wealthier, and focussed more on individual economic attainment than social progress and equality) are using current circumstances for profiteering, driving businesses to the brink (presumably so their chums can scoop some cheap assets) and literally starving the children of lower income families all to pinch some pennies? It sure starts to feel like the "bottom half" of our society, one might say the "lower classes" are having a "war" waged on them, funnily enough by the party that promised to deliver the "will of the people"...

It's not even about "delivering a Labour government" at present, it's about loudly pointing out ongoing inequalities and deliberate unfairness to stop the ruling rich using their ill-gotten political power to stamp all over the poor...

It’s disappointing that the united front which was presented throughout the stand-off has now been broken by some of the local tory MPs.

If you knew the nature of what utter shits our new breed of 'red wall' Tory's are, you'd be utterly gobsmacked he ever got them on board in the first place.

If you take the repugnant little turd who is now my MP, James 'Double-dip' Daly, he is exactly what you'd expect from the new intake. A rabid Brexiteer, Boris cheerleader and a grifting little shyster (he is still picking up his allowance as a councilor on top of his parliamentary salary) who refuses to communicate or engage with his constituents, endlessly retweets whatever Dom tells him to, and the only time he's ever see here is when theres a suitable photo opportunity.

An utter ****, basically.

The rest of them are just the same

The letter that Dom wrote and they all then signed, having a go at Andy, was just them reverting to type. It goes without saying which way they all voted on free school meals yesterday, despite alledgedly representing some of the most deprived areas in the country.

Given the tiny majorities they're all sat on, I doubt we'll be afflicted with them for long

Burnham is the new Tom Watson.

One of our resident designers needs to do a "Che" image of him. I'd buy a T Shirt with that on.

I’m getting on that Harry

Just watched him on north west news. He’s now been cut out of all communications by government

Very grown up

He was as scathing as you’d expect about Westminster, including, it would seem, the Labour Party.

Interesting

I'll have one of those 🙂

Man's been a bit of a star.

Did you see Rog's face on Look North West during that interview?
Like a toddler who's just dropped his ice cream.....
Priceless.

I prefer the term 'class traitor', but scum is close enough.

The chinless ****stick she called scum is MP for Heywood and Middleton. He'd go down a treat in the Ringers on a Saturday afternoon.

Just checked Friday's headlines for any reference to Angela Rayner's 'scum' comment - nope, nothing; same as Thursday's papers.
Nicky Morgan made a half-hearted attempt to raise it in QT but was ignored and didn't attempt to force the issue.
I'm sure that whichever tory stooge is pushed onto Any Questions on Friday will try the same - to the same effect.
So much for it having any negative effect on the Labour message; wrong.
It's strengthened the message.
The only thing that will stick is tories being labelled as scum.
Carry on chaps.

The interview on Look North West was interesting. Burnham accused the interviewer of following the Westminster narrative and he just seemed perplexed.

I've not lived in Granada-land for a while. Who is this Roger chap? Is he normally a piss-poor Poundland Paxman?

Yes. He's there to do nice story's about cats on skateboards or fun runs in Didsbury. Anything more heavyweight than that and he's out of his depth

Because Dominic hasn't told Laura about it yet. I look forward to the 10 o'clock news.

I believe that Skate Cat originated from East Didsbury, but was last seen rolling west.

Roger Johnson & Dave Guest will brief us fully later.
