Was quite happy with the baked in Google Podcasts but that's being turned off in a month or so. I liked it because it was clutter free and not trying to do other stuff too.
So where do you listen to yours?
BBC sounds - ok for BBC ones
YouTube music - no clue
Spotify if you already use it/subscribe.
BBC Sounds and Spotify (for The Rest is Politics)
To be honest I could manage with BBC Sounds alone, I know it's 'only' BBC ones, but the range on there is eeeeeenormous.
As above: BBC Sounds, Spotify & Pocketcasts.
Spotify.
There's a few ideas here when this was asked a week ago:
I use Spotify, but not sure if there's better out there.
Podcast Republic. It's easy to export your subscriptions from Google Podcasts and import into PR. Lots of options but reasonably clutter-free once set up.
Player FM. Been using it for years, no complaints.
google podcasts has just moved to youtube music
Spotify, BBC sounds, and Patrion (though I only use that for Smith & Sniff, OTSOT)
Spotify because of the Tesla integration
Antenna Pod is my current favourite...simple to check which podcasts are actually downloaded so I don't have to rely on streaming when out walking the dog and listening to podcasts.
Think I'll be using Spotify. I quite like the Google podcast player.
Spotify
Pocket Casts
google podcasts has just moved to youtube music
While this is true YouTube Music is an absolute mess for Podcasts, they seem to promote videos of which I am not interested in when listening to a Podcast.
Google podcast was the perfect platform for me.
Yes, I've only dabbled in YouTube music but as a podcast host it does not look great. I suppose if you subscribed to YouTube music for music it might make sense (like Spotify does for Spotify subscribers) as you are going there already.
I've used Podcast Addict for a few years and really like it.
Google podcasts was fine. Now on Youtube music which is an absolute mess for podcasts.
I have used podcast addict for years. I should probably pay the premium, but the ads are very unobtrusive (visual ads in the app)
on the subject of ads - if you subscribe to amazon music there are loads in there - similar deal to spotify i guess although ive never used it. The in-program ads are gone if you listen there. Includes plenty of (road) cycling ones like GTCC, Never Strays Far and Matt Stephens plus No such thing as a fish, Empire etc. and all the Rest is.. ones
Another vote for podcast addict. I wish the iPlayer had some of PA's functionality (automatic delete once played, ability to order playlist, etc).
