Contract renewal time next month and I'm trying to decide on which phone to go for. I've had iPhones for a while now, so fancy trying one of the latest Android handsets (although I'm not loyal to either).
I'm on EE and have narrowed the choice down to Galaxy S10, One Plus 6T, Pixel 3 and Huawei P30 Pro.
Most of these are at the top end og the monthly price range. I know some have XL versions and a "lite" version (S10e springs to mind).
I use my phone mainly for messaging, social media, taking photos, watching video etc. Decent water/dust proofing is a must too.
Having read reviews, I'm sure I'd be happy with any of these so I'm really looking for opinions from people who have any of these phones, or have used them. MAybe I could save myself a bit of money by getting the lighter or smaller versions?
I currently have an iPhone 7 Plus and don't mind the size.
Thanks 🙂
At that end of the scale you won't be disappointed with any of them. I've got a Huawei Mate 10 Pro and it's great, P30 Pro has had great reviews and the camera is peerless. Also have a look at Xiaomi is you want something a bit left field and with excellent specs for the money.
Oh and don't worry about the size. Your iPhone has huge bezels compared to a more recent phone so you'll get a better screen for the same size handset.
Ah yeah, I'd forgotten about the bezel size! I do like the look of the new bigger screens and how they go right to the edges.
I read about the Xiaomi, but EE don't offer it 🙁
A mate at work has the P20 pro I think and he raves about it.
You can go to online phone network companies and get almost any phone for any network. I did it a while ago with a Samsung galaxy note Edge. No issues at all.
OnePlus 6T here - love it, although you def need a case as the glass back is very slippery.
It's a fairly untouched version of Android OS which I like.
I may look at a Pixel next time just for the camera.
Oh and the dash charging is just fantastic.
OnePlus 7 out in a few days.
@fd3chris
I'm on for an early upgrade for sticking with EE though (and they are the best for coverage in my area). I used to be terrible for phone swapping and network hopping!
Oh, the desk/dash charging is another feature I'd like too! I've read that the One Plus 6T doesn't have an official IP rating, but one reviewer managed to dunk it in a toilet and it was fine.
Yeah, I saw the OnePlus 7 announcement on Facebook, but the way they are talking, it looks like a Three network exclusive for now?
I just recently swapped from Apple to Android. While like the phone, Samsung S9 I miss the OS of Apple.
I've had both over the years and not really had a preference. I do like how you can customise Android, but Apple stuff is pretty slick.
You might get used to it 🙂
I just read a review of the P30 pro. Blimey, that is impressive - stellar camera, IP68 rated and good batttery.
I am seriously interested
I'm still using a OnePlus 3 and will upgrade to a OnePlus 6T or OnePlus 7 as they're fantastic phones.
I watched a lot of videos and read a lot of reviews before I chose my phone and the Huawei camera always came out great especially for night photos, if you like to set things up. But if like me you just point and click then the Samsung seemed to take a more consistent picture.
Literally just on a review of the P30 Pro too! The only negative I can see is the tinny mono speaker. To be honest, I'm not sure how important that is for me ( I don't watch full films through speakers or anything).
First world problem right here! They all seem a big leap from my iPhone 7, even that is still fast and a decent phone.
I'm surprised that the p30 is mono. My mate 10 uses the phone speaker at one end and an additional one at the base. Surely they do the same thing?
