Currently got a Hero and all my contacts are saved on the phone (ie not sim or google). Got a sopanking new Galaxy S2 and want to back up my phone contacts. Is there an easy way to do it ?
Thanks All.
Connect to PC, sync with outlook, attach new phone and sync that with outlook.
Isn't there an import/export option on the menu in the standard contacts app?
What clubber said
Samsung GS2 uses the Kies software (herumph) not the most reliable piece of software IMO (but way better than it used to be)
I sync mine with outlook (as said) then transfer all data to/from Kies thereby keeping all backups in one place (boring I know..zzzzz)
Samsung also have a Kies App called Kies Air which is a "lite" version via wireless..
On my HTC Desire I can export the phone contacts to the SD card, and import from an SD card. Presumably you can export to the SD from the Hero - and hopefully the Galaxy can import from the SD. Then it's just a case of export/swap over card/import/job done.
[color=blue]Doesn't Android setup process allow you to rip them via Bluetooth from your previous phone (certainly did on the last 2 HTC androids I've had, but I guess that might be a quirk of the HTC Sense OS overlay rather than something all Android phones do)?
Then just backup using Google or whatever sync app Samsung supply.

Did what beej said. Worked a treat.
Great phone by the way.
either use the inbuilt "rip off old phone" function
or move them over to your google account, then you have a permenant backup ANYWAY
also, if your a Facebork user, my Wildfire pinched all the numbers off facebook before i had even bothered to do anything, so i only had to manually input my gran and my dad.
i just changed from desire to SGS2 and exported the contacts to the SD card, and then imported them into the SGS2 through the menu from the contact list.
it worked very well, and even transferred any pictures i had associated with the contacts.
Why would you use a google phone and not use the google cloud services?
Completely agree glen ... Seems like madness to me
