I've got Memory-Map on my Sensation XE and I can still use GPX files as far as I can remember.

I believe that you can add a gpx file on to Google Earth. You can then save the route on Google maps of the t'internet and from there, open Google maps on your phone and select layers, and then apply the route as a layer.

Either that of get Viewranger (there is a free version on Google Play) which I also believe deals with gpx files, which is a lot less faff a getting a gpx file on to it, but doesn't seem as intuitive to use.

I use Oruxmaps on my Galaxy S2 and it allows me to load a .gpx file and it would then allow me to track using it. It would either need a fast web connection or the maps already installed on Oruxmaps so you can then see your trail.

I only use Oruxmaps to log the ride I'm doing, it (so far) has proved far more accurate and reliable than any other tracking software I've tried, it doesn't seem overly battery hungry and after the ride, I stop the tracking and it automatically saves the ride in a .gpx format. I then just email that up to my online account(s).

Only issue with Oruxmaps might be the actual map on the system, you would be best to download the map and install it on the phone so you can view it offline...

Orux maps works very well. You can download OS maps for a specific area very easily and then load .gpx files for route following. You can create routes on there as well although there are easier online tools if you want to do that. Its free as well.

If Oruxmaps doesn't work for you, try Back Country Navigator off the Android Market

A while ago, I tried to get GPXs to work with Google's My Tracks app. This was a while ago so might have changed now, but I found that My Tracks does support GPX files but there's no way within the app to open them. If you use a file manager with "Open With" functionality (eg, Linda File Manager), you can select the GPX and open with My Tracks.

Madness, I know, but it does work.

For me Maverick is the nicest mapping app on android with OS maps down to 1:25,000

I use GPSies.com to store them online.GPSies has an android app as well.

Oruxmaps also has GPSies integration, so once you have done your ride (providing you have your account details added to the system), you just hit 2 options and the gps is uploaded to GPSies.com...2 options as the first one is the pick the track and the secopnd is to upload to GPSies.

I'm tempted to get a bluetooth HRM and pair it with my phone, it will have a small impact on battery life but I'm looking to scare myself at seeing how out of shape I actually am...I know Oruxmaps works with an HRM but I don't know if I just upload the .gpx file to Strava and it picks up the HRM data...will try it once I get it sorted.

OK slight hijack.... What USA mapping tool to use on Android with GPX files? I also want to be able to use offline to avoid reliance on data connections whilst in the boonies....
