Hi, I've been using an app called Tracker Booster for a while now, supposedly to increase the accuracy of Endomondo and Strava tracking.
My old Sony Xperia Active seemed to benefit from this, but I'm not so sure that my new Nexus 4 is so much - it seems to be hitting the battery hard though recently (new behaviour, but not updated the app since install). The only advantage my Nexus seems to have over the Sony is the addition of GLONASS if that means anything to anyone.
So what are your thoughts on the Tracker Booster app? Any good or rubbish? Anything out there to rival it? Or not needed?
Never heard of it. According to the Store overview, it works by preventing the phone from dropping the GPS when it's sleeping. So a) I guess it's a fix for a problem which is phone-dependant, and b) it's going to use more battery.
GLONASS is the Russian implementation of GPS isn't it? Or am I misremembering?
Not needed IME. My S3 mini seems to keep a pretty close track of where I ride.
My cheap xperia is more accurate than friends I phones or much more expensive HTC already.
Is there an app to make mine worse? last few times I've been out with them their segment times have been quite close to mine despite having to wait for ages at the end for them to finally turn up.
Strava can be wildly inaccurate - I've been riding with mates in a line, close together and got 20s difference in segment times over a couple of minutes... IIRC strava will match a segment if you're close enough to the start/end so if the GPS loses signal, you often get a quicker time for that section.
