Mrs t-r has just informed me her Motorola g12 has expired.
I've been tasked to purchase a new phone.
I value robustness over quality so currently using a doogee phone s punk ..... And yes the name produced a chuckle.....but light and good camera it is not so I'm probably.not qualified to be buying what she needs.
Mrs t-r would like the ability tap to pay and a decent camera - budget between 3-400 lower is preferred but if it's worth spending to the high end to get something markedly better I may be convinced.
Any pointers. -is it worth getting something from back market to get better for the buck -i hear good things and not adverse to used gear.
I had Moto phones for years. When the last one died I bought a Pixel 7a from Argos. It didn't take long at all to get used to it as neither had any proprietary bloatware and it took even less time to sync everything across. Had to get a new sim from Tesco to get the 5g, that's all. I've had it a while and it's fine. At first the battery was poor but that was because it was listening and identifying songs 24/7. I switched that off and it's all good.
I got a Pixel 9a on a deal with a trade in that was about 250. Great battery life. A little bit unresponsive in some situations, but overall pretty good and would tick your boxes.
Yeah the pixel 8 pro on backmarkets looking like a winner at the moment. Don't have anything to trade in can't quite justify the jump to a 9 without dropping down the quality grades.
We had this conversation last week.
Whatever Pixel is in budget and if she's a ham-fisted gibbon then add a £2.99 Hello Kitty case. If I were replacing mine tomorrow and couldn't be arsed to do any research I'd probably go for an 8a.
