I've got a faulty Galaxy S2 so the nice people at Orange are replacing it tomorrow. The only think is they insist on doing a phone swap, courier drops new phone and takes away the old phone. He won't wait around for me to do a USB transfer of stuff. I therefore need to back up everything to then dump it on the new phone.
I need to transfer Apps, Contacts, Music, Photos and settings.
Any recommended Apps or processes for doing this quickly, easily and reliably? The phone is not rooted.
ta
'App backup & restore'
'SMS backup & restore'
Sync contacts beforehand or export (setting->export as i recall)
take screenshots of your homescreens if you want to replicate them on the new phone (or if you use a different launcher, some will allow you to backup your settings).
do all this to your SD card and then transfer that over, reinstall the apps above, off you go.
what about music, photos and video? Just copy this to PC?
Isn't that on your SD card already too? If not, move it!
Have you got the time (or inclination) to root it? If yes, then Titanium backup will do the lot.
never really looked at rooting?
Is it difficult?
Is it worth it?
Will I void warranty?
Why should I bother? (other than for this back-up)
I use My back up pro
Is it difficult? Not really
Is it worth it? Probably not
Will I void warranty? Might do
Why should I bother? (other than for this back-up) Dunno.
Sorry 🙁 Just noticed the phone's being collected tomorrow.
You won't need to back up your apps as Google Play will retain your list of apps on-line (google play > menu > my apps) or something.
Your contacts should all be gmail contacts - just re-sync when you get the replacement phone.
Music and Photos should be on the SD card - or just transfer straight to PC as above.
Settings.... have you customised it significantly?
The only thing that may be of concern are your SMS messages. There's an app for that.
Samsung Kies (I thought that was exactly what it was for) 😯
