Having recently got an Android phone to replace my iPhone (and it seems like a good swap so far), there are an apps that I'd like find an android alternatives for - GoodReader allows you to save files (pretty much anything - pdfs, pictures, MS office files, etc) to the phone and read them, download webpages to the phone and also upload files to an ftp location

Any suggestions? I found apps that do parts of it but not one that does it all. If not, what do you use for the individual tasks?

And while I'm on, how can you organise your browser bookmarks into folders (or suggestions on alternative browsers?)

Have a look at QuickOffice. Not used it myself, but it seems like it would do similar things.

For browsing I use Opera, but I don't have a ton of bookmarks, so not sure what additional bookmark features it might have.

Yes, thanks - quickoffice does allow me to open MS files.

I guess there's just not an app that does all the file types, allows web page downloads and ftp for android yet.

Aye - there's also 'Documents To Go'

Could you not use something like DropBox instead of FTP? - There is talk of an FTP backend for DropBox too, but I don't think it's going ahead.

I've never used it, but what you've just described sounds like Instapaper to me.
