Anyone recommendations for these. I would like one in my bike box incase it gets lost on route so I can guess if it will arrive or not. Real world experiences as opposed to Amazon chat bot reviews!

I can't see your other post, maybe deleted as a duplicate.

I got Mototags, as they work with Googles Find hub.  A lot of the tags don't so are less likely to be reported by other android phones.

They've been in our bike boxes and jumped about the airport baggage system, and then on our new cats for the first couple of weeks they were allowed out.

The only negatives is I didn't realise you can't set up a geofence, to actively alert you that they've left an area such as the hotel basement, and the ring function is a bit quiet. When they were on the cats outside, you could only just hear the ring if the cat was very close i.e the other side of a fence. Good enough for finding keys in the kitchen, pretty useless if you are walking past a cluster of houses trying to work out which one contains a wrong'un with your bike.

I can't see the other thread anywhere so I'll answer in this one.  I use the Chipolo tags that also work with Google as long as you pick the correct model.  They are fine for finding things I misplace around the house but I can't tell you how good they are for lost stuff yet.  The problem is that the Google FindMy network is by default more restrictive than Apple as people need to opt in to have their phones take part in the network except in high traffic areas.  That's probably fine for stuff travelling through airports though and my neighbour gave his daughter one to carry the first few days she went by school to herself (without a phone) and it worked ok for seeing if she had arrived or not as I guess there were a lot of phones at the school

I looked into this a few weeks ago, for little reason other than curiosity.  I concluded that the only product on the market which wasn't shit was the Moto Tags Already mentioned here.

This is not conclusive advice.

We have AirTags for this, but the reality for me is that it just raises the stress levels as some bags appear to have made it onto the flight and some haven’t, when in reality they all have, you just don’t know until you land.

Maybe handy for confirming where they are if they do get left behind, but don’t provide the comfort/confirmation I was hoping for whilst actually on the flight.

Weve got some ugreen AirTag compatible ones which are ok - not sure what their google equivalents are like.

Yeah i've stopped looking at my tracking app when we land as it just makes the feeling of the bikes have been left behind worse.

Well, if you know the bags been left behind, you don't need to spend hours waiting like a lemon at the carousel, and can go straight to the lost luggage desk...

I’ve got a bunch of Tile tags, which have replaceable batteries; I don’t know how well they work on Android, but they’re bloody useless with an iPhone*! I’ve also got some Chipolo tags, which are designed for iOS, and I know they work because when I leave the house I get a series of little chimes to let me know I’ve left various things behind.

*They were giveaways for customers at my last place of work, and someone found a boxful while clearing out cupboards as the site was being shut down, so I grabbed a handful. Waste of time, I could never get them to work even using the Tile app. Anyone want them, drop me a line, and I’ll stick them in the post, along with some replacement batteries. I’ve got nine of them. Tile Mate trackers retail at £32, so that’s £288 worth!

@CountZero I'll take a few and drop some cash into a charity of your choosing (or tweed valley mountain rescue if you have no preference)

You don't know though. It just makes you feel like they have...

Specially when the tracker on your hold luggage shows it's there but the bike bag doesn't.

On the way home from Spain a few weeks back the tracker didn't show my bike bag until they wheeled it out in the oversized baggage area.

Maybe I'm more sensitive to this though as I've twice had bikes go missing for a couple of days.

I've got 8 Samsung Smart Tags (or whatever they are called). They are all showing the right location - 6 at home, one somewhere else and one with me. Most of the home ones haven't updated their location since yesterday though.

Have been handy for finding keys in the past

Yeah all of ours work great when they're at home.

Not so much on a plane going to Europe though.

So they are kind of useful, but not in all situations.

I'm using Tiles but my mates Airtag didn't fare any better the last time we were on the same flight.

Hi guys, yeah I’m perfectly happy with donations to charity, I’ve got a few padded envelopes around, so I’ll get them sorted over the next day or two and get them sent off.
Frankly I’ll be glad to see them go to people who can make use of them, they’re just sitting in a little pile on my coffee table at the moment, doing nothing useful! 😄

Ok, I’ve found some padded envelopes, so if you could send me your address details, I can get them to the post office sometime over the next day or two. There’s a spare battery for each one as well - they take a 1632 button cell, not a size I use for anything else, so better you have them.

Each tile has a little panel on the back with ridges, you just slide it off to change the battery.
