Latest episode was the best yet IMO, the slow build starting to pay off.
Andy Serkis and the Imperial woman both superb.
Agreed.
Also I reckon the security guy and the ISB dominatrix are definitely going to get it on, in a strict, no imperial laws broken kinda way... *shudders
Very nice. The original SW films were legendary for costume design; some serious work went into creating them, so much research, so much fantastic design talent involved. Sumptuous.
A good friend of ours worked on the costumes, I’ll pass this on.

Yup,full on prison break action.🚀

Nah,I think he is going to go all freestyle investigator and arse everything up in a spectacular fashion. 😉🤣
It's officially my favourite spin off series.
do I go to the gym tonight or watch it while MrsMC is out?
Did you watch it? I found it gripping.

I'll have you know I went to the gym! 🏋♂️
Impressive. Watch it now!
So in the prison factory, what do we reckon they’re building day in day out? (Other than it being military, I don’t suppose it matters either to them or us, but it’d be typically classy of the series to nod to some Star Wars lore, bits of a Tie??)
You have to assume it's Death Star parts. It's set 5 years before Rogue One which has the fully operational Death Star so it's not unlikely
When I first saw them building the parts I thought it was for the middle of a tie fighter wing but death star parts make more sense. Andor building the thing that eventually kills him
A good friend of ours worked on the costumes, I’ll pass this on.
Please do! I think one of the best aspects of the whole Star Wars empire is the costume design. It's the benchmark for all other sci-fi stuff. Lots of homage to 2001, but a lot of original stuff too. Darth Vader's costume truly is one of the best in the history of cinema. What is making Andor 'work' for me, what helps it to be that bit more entertaining, are the costumes. Absolutely superb. So big respect to all working on them!
It's definitely settled in now, and improved as the series has gone on. Takes Star Wars to darker, more disturbing places, whilst remaining good 'family' entertainment. Sort of. perhaps not for younger kids. But a large part of the SW audience are middle aged men, let's face it, so catering to them is an obligation. We were betrayed by the 2nd trilogy; those films are a travesty and disrespectful to the brand. Jar Jar ****ing Binks. The other spin offs have been varied; Rogue One was very good, I enjoyed Solo, andThe Mandalorian was ok. Boba Fett was pretty poor, and I've forgotten Obi-Wan Kenobi already that's how uninspiring it was. Andor takes Star Wars where it needs to go.
A friend of a friend worked on the pod races in the Ja Ja Binks film. He was horrified when he saw what else was in his film!
We were betrayed by the 2nd trilogy
This is the contradiction at the heart of all Star Wars that spoils it for everyone. Somewhere in the George Lucas factory there's a flashing neon sign that daily reminds the workers there that "STARS WARS IS FOR CHILDREN" but everyone also realises that the vast numbers of folks that invested into the original series in the 70's and 80's are now adults. The two cannot be reconciled.
Andor/Rogue One is as "grown-up" as the franchise will ever allow, and even then there's the jarring sense of the actors being children in adult clothes miming adult things that they don't really understand.
One video reckoned it's parts for the probe droids, which are sort of disposable so they'd need a constant supply of parts.

One of the key things that makes Andor good...
There are no aliens in it! Not that I can remember. Barring a few droids, there are no bizarre aliens thrown in just to sell toys. I think that is what made The Book of Boba and even The Mandalorian to lesser extent, look a bit cheap, almost sub Doctor Who special effects at times.
This feels much more real and "human". As with Rogue One, it's basically a WWI/II show.
Some THX 1138 vibes as well.

Yep, it's not a kid's show.

I think it was the scooter mods that made it look Doctor Who-ish, the aliens were the least of the show's problems.
😀
I don't think they ar actually making anything in the factory as such, I won't be surprised to see in a later episode, a different floor dismantling the same parts.
It's all just a dumping ground for problems to the empire, were they can die much quicker without any massive controversy over the mis treatment of prisoners..
I dunno, even as a kid I wondered who the **** built all those death stars, star destroyers etc.
I'm glad it's finally being addressed.

The second trilogy was just crap. Appalling films. The original films weren't just for children, they were for a wider audience. The 'betrayal' was in the piss poor quality of the second trilogy, in terms of acting, dialogue, characters, and the massive over-reliance on CGI. Truly terrible. I went to see the Phantom Menace in the cinema with some mates; left feeling massively disappointed. Many kids who saw it weren't that impressed. Contrast that to 1977, when hordes of children came out of cinemas having experienced the 'best film ever'. I didn't bother with the next two, so that's at least £12 lost to the film industry. If you want repeat customers, you need to keep up the quality of your products. The third trilogy was a much, much, much better effort (Princess Leia miraculously coming back to life aside...). I saw all 3 in the cinema (it's not £6 a ticket any more..), and felt they were much more like proper Star Wars films. As was Rogue One, which is very good. Andor compliments the franchise extremely well, I think.
Also I reckon the security guy and the ISB dominatrix are definitely going to get it on
I do hope so. They're both very darkly sexy characters. Full of simmering deep set hatred. Lovely uniforms too...
yes but still way below acceptable standards "in terms of acting, dialogue, characters, and the massive over-reliance on CGI" I would say. "Let's go Chrome Dome". FFS, absolute drivel 😂The third trilogy was a much, much, much better effort
Andor is great though, and the more they strip it down the better/tenser it gets.
The second trilogy was just crap.
Exactly.
The third trilogy was so patchy though.
1. Promising start - but turned into a slightly disappointing pastiche of A New Hope.
2. Pretty good, bolder and more original - but uneven pacing and some superfluous scenes.
3. Total and utter shit. You should be ashamed JJ.
Also I reckon the security guy and the ISB dominatrix are definitely going to get it on
Jeebus No! He's giving off intense Incel, stalker vibes...
Or maybe that's something the Empire encourages?
Actually I think they're lining up a big old end of season twist maybe, My guess:
ISB lady is actually a deep cover, Rebel sleeper agent.
Otherwise she'd have employed captain crazy eyes and channelled his anger towards Andor at uncovering the Rebellion's activities.
I reckon Her work to partially uncover the Rebel organisation is to get her into the inner circle with a view to laying hands on even more intelligence, or even having a Suicide assassination attempt at the Emperor(?)...
Yeah, I like that theory! I think it would work best if her handler was Jar-Jar, who as we all know is an even more secret sith.
and felt they were much more like proper Star Wars films
That's because Ep7 was a re-make of Ep4, it went rapidly downhill after that.

Granted, there are a few cringeworthy moments for sure.

I watched it yesterday. I don't think it's that bad. It's all subjective though, isn't it?

Ok you need a lie down now....
Also I reckon the security guy and the ISB dominatrix are definitely going to get it on
As soon as I saw that, I assumed they're going to turn into a gender reversed Herr Flick and Helga.

It’s all subjective though, isn’t it?
Very much so. On the subject of Eps 1-3 I watched them with my then young son, we came out of Revenge of the Sith and I was doing my usual bemoaning the script and the dire acting, and my son (eight or so at the time) looked at me, and said "Did you miss the bit where the giant space ship crashed into the ground?"
Well quite...
The ‘betrayal’ was in the piss poor quality of the second trilogy, in terms of acting
Mainky because Hayden Christiansen appears to be hewn from solid teak, something his appearance in Obi Wan did little to dispel?
Mainky because Hayden Christiansen appears to be hewn from solid teak, something his appearance in Obi Wan did little to dispel?
He did burn quite well, didn't he?
I've never thought Ewan McGregor was much cop as Obi Wan either, tbh. I'm not sure that's entirely his fault though.
worth the whole trilogy just to see SLJ lop some mf's head off with his purple lightsaber 😂On the subject of Eps 1-3 I watched them with my then young son, we came out of Revenge of the Sith and I was doing my usual bemoaning the script and the dire acting, and my son (eight or so at the time) looked at me, and said “Did you miss the bit where the giant space ship crashed into the ground?”Well quite…

🤣🤣🤣 Genuine lol. Doesn't help that there's multiple similarities between the galactic empire and the Nazis, least of which being the big trousers and leather boots...
some...head...purple...saber
Ban this Sith flick!
I had flu at the end of last week and binged the lot. Had basically given up on Star Wars as being basically for kids, but I’m a big fan of Tony and Dan Gilroy (Michael Clayton, Nighthawk etc), so I gave it a go, very glad that I did.
It may have been my slightly febrile state, but the young investigator looks a lot like a young Kyle MacLachlan, so kept me think of his role in twin peaks.
Phantom meanace was shite but the other two are better than any of the sequel trilogy imo. The problem with the sequel trilogy is that it has no ****ing story overall, the second film was ok but doesn't fit with the other two. At least the prequels had a story.
the young investigator looks a lot like a young Kyle MacLachlan, so kept me think of his role in twin peaks.
Oh god, yes! I see that.
Yeah, the incel/gender reversed Herr Flick and Helga thing is weird. Not sure it's sexy. Probably already available on PornHub
I think Ep 2 and 3 are Ok, at least there is a story, Ep 1 was ruined by the Gungans.
Ep 7 had such promise and blew it. EP 8 was a mess, meandered all over the place and the whole mcguffin master code breaker rubbish was exactly that. Ep 9 had lots of space ships.
The only redeeming bit of the whole sequal trilogy was the Haldo manoeuvre.
Ep 8 made limited sense - how come so few left?
Then Ep 9 junked it all. The Force dyad thing was cool though.
There’s a reasonable argument that Rogue One is the best film since ROTJ.
looks a lot like a young Kyle MacLachlan
Yes! You're right, I was wondering who he reminded me of.
Episode 10 = Fantastic!
Yeh, that was the best one yet
Is it out already?
Just watched 9 yesterday - really enjoying it so far....
Agree, it's turning into a brilliant series.
Ep 10 was good.
I take it Kino's last line was a nod to Papillon?
Yeah really getting going now, 2 more episodes to go.
Yeah, that was good. This is a really good series.
Liked that the title applied to both story lines in that one. Acting top notch again.
Agreed, it's taken a while, but that Ep was very good.
Too true, how blinking good was that ..ONE WAY OUT 😃 👍
Avoided thread until watched Ep10. And it did not disappoint. Well none of it has for me. From the start, the building of the individual character, the detail in the sets, all top notch.
It is hard to believe they released boba fett and the mandalorian, both of which are poor representations of the series. They detract so much and show what they could have been.
Oh **** yes.
ONE WAY OUT!
ONE WAY OUT!
Nice twist with the ISB mole too, did not see that coming.
One of the prison guards looks just like Graeme Obree.
It’s a great series and that probably explains why it’s not performing very well compared to the other ones. Boba Fett and Obi Wan were terrible. Mando is good too. It’s basically a serialised space western with shades of Lone Wolf and Cub.

🤣🤣
Brilliant.
Just watched the latest episode. Oh my word, it was beautiful.
I got to thinking that he’d make a pretty convincing ‘Bond baddie’.
Andor is fantastic tv.
Love it....With a cast of ex British soap actors and a good script/story line it totally shows up all of the other starwars universe shows. Maybe there's hope for the franchise yet?
I was sort of close with my predicted twist I suppose, shame there was no Darth Binks. Yet...
‘Hydro takes months to power back up’ dude not been to Dinorwic and heard about the 745pm kettle rush??
Cracking telly though. I love the Britishness, and would love to hear Diego Luna’s best Dick Van Dyke after filming that…
Was it just me?
I cant swim
What are you crazy the fall will probably kill you.
Loving Andor, just building and getting better and better.
Struggled with it to start with but now hooked with where it's going.
As for prequel/ sequel trilogy, the best tight saber fights are in episodes 1 and 3.
I liked the concept of episode 8 "forget the past..." Directly challenging nostalgia, but it didn't offer anything in return or an alternative direction.
Best things I've seen is some YouTube reviewer getting excited that the prison confirmed the existence of handrails in the star wars universe.

Haha, that's brilliant.
Bit slow tonight after last week's episode, Luthen's ship taking on the imperial patrol was good though. Hoping its building to major finale next week.
Luthen’s ship taking on the imperial patrol was good though.
Yup, that was brilliant! The Imperial ship's captain's face was a picture when he escaped; the actor is, I'm pretty sure, a British comedian - can't find his name.
Yep it was an admin heavy episode reminds me of the first couple which I nearly stopped at (but glad I didn't)
It would have flowed better if they ended last week on a cliffhanger - the prison break in jeopardy - and start this episode with the escape.
Next week is the final so more action I think.
This series has really grown, the bits I seem to enjoy less are when it reminds me we're still in the Star Wars universe, with fake aliens, although to be fair Luthen's ship is pretty badass.
It is though, still a WW2 spy story for the Y-Generation!
Great season finale. Nice post credits scene too!
I'll have to go watch that i didnt know there was a post credit scene!
Liked Andor better than any Star Wars series or film since the clone wars animated show
Quick edit after watching it, yes what was a very cool post credit scene
It feels so much more real, really get a sense of the evilness of the Empire, compared to the clown antics in the films.
I did check for the post episode credits this time - that's where the parts went.... as guessed
Luthen's ship was amazing at the end of E11. Need one.
👍 😁
Some interesting moments, the stabbing of the ISB undercover chap and the rescue of the ISB lady... More to follow on I suspect...
Great hologram speech. Another episode that made the Rebellion feel both essential and difficult.
and the rescue of the ISB lady… More to follow on I suspect…
Whoever posted before about the gender switch of Herr Flick and Helga really messed up that sub plot for me....
Really enjoyed the whole series, got the feel and atmosphere spot on. I'm not enough of a fan to get the links to other parts of the saga, but was quite happy with it as a stand alone series.
Season 2 release date is apparently "Sometime in 2024"
Bit of a wait. Actually too long of a wait, they should really have something like this as a series ready to go 6 months down the line. Tops.
Yes a lot of people will forget between now and then.
