Hmmm dunno. Used to see Swizzels from the back windows of my house. You could smell what was being made when you were near too.

So as that was all a bit much, i'm going for:

Little Chef lollies, every day of the week.

Do they still exist? Wham bars (proper bloody sized ones!) if I can't get a little chef lolly.

Good old filling removers (and creators) some of these.

Anyway, cinnamon gobstoppers. Still find the smell of cinnamon is an instant memory flashback for me.

And showing my age, half penny chews.

Those white mice (not sure they are white chocolate) are vile. Them and the white buttons with sprinkles on them were about the only sweets I didn't like as a child.

If I had to pick one I'd choose gold bears

The only sweets I actually disliked as a child were anything with coconut in (still don't like Bountys) and turkish delight. Not hugely fond of Ferrero Rocher either.

Oh, I forgot another candidate for best sweet: cola bottles, but only the ones that are quite thin and floppy, but very nearly see-through, which you don't seem to get these days now that Haribo have taken over the world. And a plus one for Wham bars, when they were A4 sized (as it seemed to me back then)

I love sweets!! From the archives of childhood I used to love Parma Violets, Foam Bananas and Curly Wurlys.

These days it's gotta be Maoam Pinballs FTW.

They're ace - they even have proper branding. I'm picturing a 9 year old asking for "20 chocolate B&H"...

Refreshers are definitely up there, also I used to love a Liquorice Toffee sweet to as a kid, but can't remember the brand or name. Still partial to Parma Violets even now. Grew up near the Swizzles factory so they'll always be firm favourites. But also used to love these, though technically might not be categorised as sweeties....

I was going to say flying saucers or chocolate covered candy bananas. But I'd not be unhappy with a bag of refreshers.

So many great suggestions.  Some additional ones.

- Sherbet Fountains

- Barrats Tabs

- M&S Colin the Caterpillar - cola flavour

- Orange Chewits.

- The chewy kind of Rhubarb and Custards - bit like a Fruit Salad...

- Sherbet Lemons

Yeah, that.  Even had their own theme tune - diddly dow, diddly dow, diddly dow-de-dow

Best lost adult sweet was the Cabana bar 🙁

Best current adult sweet is Riesen

I don't eat sweets any more, now I'm on the type2 naughty step 🙁 🙁 🙁

Love hearts

Chocolate limes

Cherry lips

Floral gums

Although my favourite was probably chewing nuts as mentioned a few times above.

Chocolate limes

Chocolate limes were singularly disgusting.  The lime bit was tolerable but the "chocolate" was a crime against confectionery.

Also, parma violets, they weren't sweets, they were breath fresheners for Victorian schoolgirls.

A bag of tesco sherbert lemons got me to the Lake District and back last weekend, I'm now going to buy some proper old sweets online! I remember every November time I used to love a bonfire toffee lolly that used to get sold at a local shop, it was immense. Looooove parma violets, have a packet in my cupboard and with the added beenfit that nobody else in the house likes them means they've been there for a week or two now!

Yeah those nasty choc paper cigarettes which you could exhale through and sugar type flour mix would gove that smoke effect.

Used to buy them from baker’s round the corner when I was like 7 yrs. took me another year to have my first puff on a real one that another kid nicked a pack of b&h gold from his father.

Got caught by a bobby and frogmarched home.

Which proves smoking is not cool nor clever
