Oh brilliant. So, for someone who hasn't been paying attention, how bad are my bills going to be now?

feels more like a slow puncture? Gone into administration and being run by ofgem / the gov. Everyones credit is protected. As as bulb customer my hope is a rbs style bail out as I don't think the rest of the industry can support their almost 2m customers and credit lines.

Apparently things are going to stay the same. They've been taken-over and gone into 'special administration: customers (such as I) are unaffected.

Very well funded and operates internationally, so I doubt they'll fold.

They'd better bloody not!

I was in the middle of a switch from green to avro when they both went bust on the same day 😀

So far I don't know* if I'm being switched to green/octopus or whether my account has fallen down the cracks

*Not strictly true, my electricity account seems to have reappeared with Octopus, no sign of my gas account yet. Nobody's getting any of my money for the foreseeable though.

Octopus are also a tech company that provide platforms to other big players in the energy markets so I suspect they'll be fine.

From my understanding they'll be run by government as no one else wants to take them over (as it would mean bigger losses for them) so perhaps no change for end user?
