will it ever get fixed I wonder?
Suppose it does spice it up a little never knowing if you will be able to get on the forum or not
Some indication of what's going on would be nice....
More uptime than facebook you know.
Aw! Not again, my bum hurts!
Some indication of what's going on would be nice....
What? And ruin the element of surprise?
Does mean I do manage to get some work done though..
Hamsters are on there last legs again.
In a nutshell, we are currently waiting for our hosting provider to investigate a hardware issue in their data centre. On the plus side, I've got the hang of bringing the site back from crashes quickly, and made a number of performance enhancements whilst rooting around on the server, which you may have noticed while the site is up. Again, apologies for the ride. It'll all be good in the end.
Cheers for the update Tom
I have noticed the forum has been much faster than before, top work.
Now if the Host can pull their fingers out, job's a good 'un
Tom,
Thanks for keeping us informed.
Call me old fashioned, but a hardware fault on your host's server shouldn't be your concern. This is a live site, if they've a known problem they should be moving you to a stable server whilst they sort it. That's a shoddy way of doing business, IMHO - it's not like it's a new problem, the site's been flaky for weeks if not months.
I appreciate that this is just a chat forum used by a relatively small number of grumpy buggers rather than any sort of mission critical site, but if I were in your position I'd be pissed and I sure as hell wouldn't be accepting "oh, the server you're on is faulty, tough" as any sort of excuse.
If a hosting provider can't keep a server up for 24 hours without it grinding to a halt or keeling over completely, and can't or won't migrate your site to somewhere that isn't broken, it's time to change providers. If nothing else, I'm sure you've better things to be doing than buggering about restoring the site every five minutes.

I agree with Ol' Man Internet. You are paying for a service they are not providing. If they cannot supply a contingency solution while they fix THEIR issues, then maybe look elsewhere?
With the greatest of respect posters, it's Toms job and the forum is a part of their business (but they earn little direct income from it), I'm sure he's/they're doing all that^ and more and considering all their options. Does he need us to point out the obvious?, I'm sure there's alot more than we are party too going on behind the scenes.
