We haven't had an 'identify the mystery lump of rust'thread for a while
During storm whatsname our shed took a bit of a beating and sort of got bent out of shape. So this week I demolished it
We're still in touch with the previous house owners and mentioned it was coming down and they reckon it was built about 50 or 60 years ago, so good innings.
So down it came and off to the tip it went. However lurking under the shed, undisturbed for half a century it would seem - were the boot lid and windscreen of a car. (also a tiny bin man, a zombie helicopter and some sort of Gollum-like abomination approximate to a spider)
Also, just at the edge of the shed base is the thread top of a pipe that extends downwards and after digging down around it about a foot and half still feels firmly attached to something. Given that theres a gas substation on the other side of the road I should determine whether its gas related before trying to remove it (as the foot print of the new shed would be a bit bigger and cover the ground the pipe is in - and I want it to have a concrete foundation/floor)
The only bit of this that is interesting really is the windscreen as it looks in good nick and might be of interest to a classic car restorer - except I've no idea what car it's from to be able to offer it to anyone. It seems the best chance of identifying it is it happened to have come off the same car as the boot lid. If I can identify that it gives me a front or rear screen to compare to.
unfortunately the boot lid seems to from an era of car when all boot lids looked exactly the same - flat, straight sides curving down at the rear. Could be a marina / ital, mk1 or 2 escort, m2 cortina, hillman avenger, hunter.... isolated from the car they all look remarkably similar. The area that the lock and any make/model badges is rotted away.
However what is distinctive about it is the pattern of the reinforcement ribs (which seems to rule all the above out).
Any other makes and models of car people can suggest so I can search for images of that car with its boot open?
the boot lid
underside - the tarry looking yuck might have been sound deadening once
the windscreen
The mystery pipe that hopefully isn't on a gas main
Tiny bin man and his attack chopper
Possibly an mind flayer

Holy ****ing shit *shuts thread*
How big is the brain eating creature?
About the same size as the bin man
That pipe thingy is just an entry port for the giant hot water bottle aka the heated lawn
Woodlouse spider ❤️
Is the house old enough to have had an outside toilet? Possible water pipe for it? Looks not to be capped, so cut it off.
The spider.... yikes!
If you live in St Leonard's Road in Blackpool it might be the car my dad buried in the garden in the early 60's. I'll have to check with him the make and model 😂
No idea what the car was, but zooming in on it, it looks like it might have had a Harry Moss rear screen demister stuck on it at some time - I'm sure I can see lines where the elements would have been stuck on.
I remember my dad having one he fitted to his P6 in the '70s

The husband and the wife?
There’s something about those spiders, with the smooth shiny abdomen that I find deeply disturbing - the orange legs don’t help either! 😣
The whole car is there, the pipe is the oil filler 🤣
Keep digging
Ah just cut the pipe off with the grinder… What’s the worst that could happen…
The figure is a Husky Toys Public Works Employees dustbin man.
If your planning to bin him :-(. I could take him of your hands and add to my collection 🙂
Water pipe? Commonly cast iron or galvanised steel
Might be best to get Cadent out, they'll check for free 🙂
Still struggling with the Heli. Seaking looking, can't place the front canopy screw. Probably missing some diecast.
Can you clean it up a bit ?
🙂
Might the cut out in the canopy be where an accessory would mount, such as a search light or gun? That would be an ugly way to provide a location for a mounting screw
I think thee real point to this is- Who buries car parts
I mean Why ???
We need to know more about the Helicopter 🙂
Clean it up a bit. 🙂
Still reckon 70's SeaKing of some unknown make. Strange canopy.
Scale 1:72

Has anyone seen Houns and Worldclassaccident in the same room?
