I am looking for a "workstation" type PC for home. Graphics stuff, video editing, Fusion etc.
My laptop runs some of the stuff OK but it can be a bit slow at times and can't handle 4k video.
I don't want to spend a fortune and have been looking at some refurbished PCs, for about £200 - £250.
However, I just don't know how to compare the different specs, CPUs are bad enough but graphics cards even worse. It's totally confusing.
Is there a simple way of comparing this stuff?
In this case, is the video card the most important? Will an older s/h card offer better value than a cheaper low end recent on?
My goto is usually geekbench initially, then actual reviews once I've narrowed things down.
I tend to look them up on Passmark

laptops also tend to scale down the fitted hardware to aid cooling, same model in a desktop tends to run better
