i got driven into last week after stopping at a zebra to allow pedestrians to cross, anyway
my insurers sorted hire car, and repairs. other insurer admitted liability the day after.
i am now getting a call about personal injury, no idea how this person/business got my details i asked how they were connected to my insurer and it was all pretty vague. saying insurers dont discuss this as they prefer to keep as profit etc.
they are talking about no claim/ LDI premium as seatbelt on and likely a whiplash style injury, 5 min conversation and they'll payout, no questions asked
whats it all about, i googled and got no hits
is it any wonder our premiums go up year after year
I don't really know what you mean by LDI, but we had this when my wife had a little bang.
It seems rather than deal with the hassle of the 'no win, no fee' crowd most insurers appoint 3rd party claims handling companies on your behalf. The whole Whiplash thing was legislated recently to reduce the potential compensation I think, but there's still something there.
If your case is like my wife's they'll asked a few questions, one will be along the lines of "do you have any injuries / pain at all, even if it wasn't a result of the accident?" If you say yes, they're rather sweetly tell you they'd like a doctor to check you out, just to be sure the accident hasn't made it worse, and anyway - there's not harm in it, the Doctors will help you with it, whether it was caused by the accident or not.
My Wife ended up have a dozen or so physio sessions to help with a back injury caused by lifting heavy patients single-handled on a Ward when they were understaffed. The Doctor, who was a decent sort and not at all like Dr. Nick Rivera reported along the lines of "Mrs Jay has an injury to X, Y, Z which predates the accident, I am unable to given an opinion on whether this was made worse by the accident" and they sent her a few grand.
I don't really believe in Ambulance chasing, we had no intention of even making a claim as the damage was minor and the other party offered to pay for it, but as usual with these sorts of things they changed their tune pretty quickly when it was going to cost £300 and we wouldn't use their mate with a couple of rattle cans in a shed. The claims handlers are very much 'all or nothing' the offer of a good physio was too good to turn down as the NHS weren't offering it, but like the 'no win, no fee' crowd, if you enter into an agreement with them, and then don't comply with the thing, you're liable for their fees.
I wouldn't have anything to do with them on principle.
What is LDI?
If you are being encouraged to submit a fraudulent claim, I'd have another conversation, record it, get them put it in writing, and then go to the relevant professional body, trading standards or Police as appropriate.
Insist on them telling you where they got your details from and report both parties to the information commission for the breach of gdpr?
