Hi all,

So working from home means luxury of music on in the background of my choice.

Looking for new things to hear - ambient or dub reggae type stuff.

Cheers for any suggestions.

Blackbeard / Dennis Bovell from the mid 70s. Pioneer of the dub along with such greats as Lee "Scratch" Perry.

The recent Ghosts series by Nine Inch Nails is ambient in a dark and atmospheric sort of way. The latest volumes (V & VI) are available for free here (and probably on your streaming service of choice).

On a dub tip I can't recommend Rhythm & Sound enough!

Rhythm & Sound with the artists, I think Queen in my Empire with Jennifer Lara is probably my favorite track from this album.

Sat here at the moment drinking port and listening to Massive Attack v Mad Professor, seems to fit your criteria quite nicely.

NIN might not be the first band you'd think of for ambient, but hey - these are free

Edit: Dammit! Hadn't noticed it'd already been posted...

Big ambient fan since early 90s. Especially stripped back techno variants.

Favourites by a mile:

David Sylvian & Holger Czukay - Flux and Mutability
Orb - Live 93
The Orb - Orbvus Terrarvm
FFWD - FFWD (rare but still on youtube as of last look)
Gas - Zauberberg
Gas - Königsforst
Gas - Pop
Marsen Jules - BeautyFear
Helios -Moiety
Markus Guentner - Shadows Of The City

There are a few more that escape me, will have a look in my playlist.

I’d say ‘Dub Side Of The Moon’, but DSOTM always made me well up and threaten to break down into a big blub. Most melancholic album I can think of, even the upbeat dub version ymmv

Wild card:

Boards Of Canada

The Revolutionaries - Kunta Kinte (Dub Plate Version 1, 2, & 3)

I'd forgotten about this gem until I watched Steve McQueen's 'Small Axe Lovers Rock', simply joyous!
