Hiya,

I've ride a bit into Nottingham from Ambergate way and have never really found a nice gravel route into Sherwood area.

Anyone got any good route ideas for getting there.

Thanks in advance.

From ambergate, take the old butterly line then road through Penkridge then you go through butterly and the police headquarters, golden valley, Codnor park, road through jacksdale, felly woods, watnell, hucknell and then get on route 6 all the way to sherwood pines. That should give you a rough idea how to get there off road.

Is that route for a road bike, gravel bike or MTB?  I'm in Nottingham and would like some different routes out that way

It's ages since I did a big loop out that way but I came from did a loop around back of old American adventure (heanor) - long Eaton - Beeston - colwick - netherfield - woodborough - thurgaton - Southwell - bilsthorpe  -  in the back of pines.

I did the route as a loop from Mansfield way.

That's a big old loop if you are starting from Ambergate!

Yes ambergate I guess is slightly off my route. I started in other side of Mansfield and probably cut Ambergate off my route.

I'm going to try and find the Strava loop.

It was still 88 miles.

Going via Heanor Shipley park would be a longer route if you wanted to go that way I'd go via Chevin, makney,Morley, bell Lane, Shipley park,

Yeah but it's a good way to get miles in rather than sat in the car.
