So, fancied a new watch, did some tinterwebbing and found a nice G Shock Gravitymaster being sold on Amazon Warehouse (sold by Amazon, not a 3rd party) it was listed as having damaged packaging but came with a warranty. Great price too.
So watch arrived today and it's the wrong watch. However I thought it was a mudmaster (£600 plus), in a box but with no paperwork.
Ok so went online to check the model and instructions on how to change the time etc. Looking at the watch it is definitely a fake, slightly different face and function to a mudmaster but almost looks identical.
Anyway, sent some pics of the watch to Casio UK to check and see if it is genuine or not.
So, Amazon Warehouse. Dodgy? Are they part of the main Amazon Co? Or a 3rd party?
Or someone else had bought it previously, then returned the wrong watch. Seems Amazon Warehouse don't bother to check what's in the box when sending it out.
Really? I would have thought as the watch was listed without packaging they would have known to check. Still, Casio UK seemed concerned.
This is the £660 Mudmaster - GWG-1000. Got it a few weeks ago from Watchshop.com for £409

There's also the GGB-100, usually just over £300

And the GWG-100, a bit cheaper again

All Mudmasters, all different specs
On the face of it, the watch looks like the top Mudmaster. I've got pics on my phone but not sure how to put on here.

What makes you think it's fake - edit, just re-read your post?
The back plate is sometimes a good indicator.
It could also be slightly different and still be genuine - most will say made in Japan, but some might say assembled in Thailand. Can't remember what the difference is though
Jesus, those are ****in ugly!!! 😂😂😂
Jesus, those are **** ugly!!!
I can see why you'd say that, a lot of people like G-Shocks though. Believe me, they 🙄 aren't the ugliest 😂
Personally, I'm not particularly fond of a lot of the watches in the N+1 thread - plenty on there look like they'd have been worn in the 80's by your creepy uncle in a brown sta-prest suit
At lsast you got a watch. Last time I ordered a Seiko from Amazon UK they sent me an empty box.
Not sure if you can see the image. Also it doesn't have all the Mudmaster functions you would expect.
Just a bit odd that they would send a different watch that is potentially a fake?
Yep, I'm 99% sure that's a fake
Looks like it came out of the same factory as the £30 Smael copies

Interestingly I've had a similar situation but with a workstand. I got a want for a Feedback Sports Pro Elite stand, which is a bit spendy. Amazon had a 'used' one with carry bag - their description said it was a cancelled order, IIRC.
Turned up, I started unpacking it and thought it looked a bit different from the product description - the paint was a different colour, for a start. And there was no carry bag.
It wasn't even a proper fake, just some crappy orange stand that looked nothing like the Feedback Sports. I figured someone had ordered the genuine £350 item, then claimed they didn't want it and sent back something that felt about right, keeping the real one.
I'd be going for someone buying a genuine G-Shock on Amazon, switching the contents for a fake and sending it back for a full refund.
Interesting, I bought a set of saucepans from amazon which rattled if you gave them a shake (don’t ask). I contacted the uk distributor who assured me this shouldn’t be the case. I then ordered some from elsewhere which arrive with a slightly different logo on the bottom, I came to the conclusion the amazon ones were fake.
